Reaver spells and malforms go hand in hand. A combination of the two is very good for building a malform.
Malforms
Make them more newbie friendly.
Let they not lose power, if you die pre L6.
Makes use of teleport useful again.
A DK reaver has a lot more to gain from not using Malforms.
If they become more newbie friendly, the maximum potential would also need to be taken down SEVERAL notches. That's a very ineffective way of doing things.

There you spoiled my cunning plan... ![]()
Who cares that newbies has L6 Malforms. They will condie trying to get them the same.

Yes, and any vet who wants to have high level malforms would be pretty much guaranteed the ability to get them.
Just because you make a DK does not mean you should expect to get yourself a set of level 10 malforms. They are incredibly powerful - and should have an appropriate workload to get them there.
It's not that many kills to get to L6. Even I can do it.
But a newbie with a 1:5 or 1:10 PK ratio sure cannot.
A dark knight is a class you can learn a lot from playing. They are amazingly versatile once you get the hang of PK. Then you build your malforms.

Yes, and that same newbie also is unlikely to ever have the equivalent of three Traven zombies with their necro. I don't see that as a good reason to make it easier to get three very strong zombies... or as a good reason to make it easier to get a suit of very powerful equipment, or cabal leadership, or anything else in this game that needs to be earned.
Excellent point Pali.
Booo, i want to get lvl 10 malforms by summoning a Lost Goblin again and again.
Fear me, i put the sewer rats souls into them too.
But yes, a DK seems to have no alternative to malforms, maybe give them one is a way to keep malforms as they are and make everyone happy.
no alternatives? you are like a malediction-casting ranger...DKs can still be uber without malform imo
Yeah, but what is the point in playng a dk if you don't have a malform? Perhaps some twisted rp that involves the loss of malform, but I don't think anyone would roll one and not go after the malform creation.
I agree, but my argument was with saying that DKs need some 'alternatives' to being powerful instead of allegedly having all their eggs in one basket.
Hehe, yer right of course,
i was pondering the DK's focus on malform though,
true of course , alot of mean spells around and regular weaponary,...
imagine some path like stuff, give up malform/ soul trans (this is the ideas section i am posting at,right?)
gain something not entirely PK related fer yer (okok my) not so PK'efficient DK.
There are different RP options than just "my malform is broken".
Maybe one is to proud to give up his soul to his blade, does have issues with the servant of anything but himself,..etc.

That other smelly aussie (I cant even remember his name right now) tried a malediction based DK. It was nicht so gut.
I don't think you'll be super good without a good malform or two. I personally think its the huge hit/dam you can amass through the weapons alone that ends up being the biggest bonus of them. The maledies (some) of them cast are very very hit and miss. There are a couple of religions around that can be exceptionally powerful. Imseik's malforms made me pretty damn pissweak against him until I got syndicate ability
Nekky is his name. Myrtaal did better than alright in my opinion.
It's like saying Rangers can't be good without pets. With the right weapons and weapon select vs opponent....rangers and DKs, in my opinion, can still be very dangerous.
