This thread is quite hilarious... everyone wants to change things so they suit him better. Sadly, few are those who think for the better of the game balance wise ![]()
Caltraps
Foxx...
(glowing) (humming) A mirror is here, begging for you to look into it.
I ain't the one who suggested BLMs to lose their crit feet Zrothum.
IMMs must really be laughing their asses off reading this thread and watching myself and Mindflayer argue about that though ![]()
With every post, Foxx, you prove my point.
Go back and read through this entire thread and then quote me one person suggesting crit feet be taken away from BLMs. All that anyone has done is discuss the ability, how it is neutralized (or in some cases NOT neutralized).
I just don't understand why so many of your posts have this smell about them. As if you can outwit anyone here or are somehow superior to them and their way of thinking. No one here is trying to powergame for themselves by suggesting different modifications to crit feet, so to imply that people in this thread are just trying to change the game to suit them personally is complete rubbish and offensive to anyone who is sincere in their posts here.
Consider this, stepping on a caltrop (tiny legos for you new parents, keep your eyes peeled) hurts for a bit.
Having a swordmaster chop off your toes on the other hand might be permanent.
This is why I suggest a >your feet hurt to bad to land. If a flying char tries to sleep while caltroped/crippled by a blademaster.
And I make these suggestions not to aid my characters, because I do not play these two classes often enough to have even noticed the inconsistency. 1 ninja and 1 blademaster in ten years.
Edit, yes I know currently caltrops does NOT affect flying enemies. See the grapple comment above. It should affect them, it just should not cause damage with every step, after all your not putting weight on the feet. So the affect should be logged w/o damage until you try and land.

Zrothum, does it have to lined directly word by word, "Blademasters should lose crit feet", for you to grasp it?
If crit feet is being neutralized by flight it will become as useful as bash against anyone with protective shield. They can still be affected by it, right?
And what is Mindflayer's best argument about this? - "Ninjas don't have it, so BLMs shouldn't have it too".
I really hate it when someone tries to swing balance via RP. It is a really smart move and most people fall for it.
You know what, I think that bash should be negated if the person you are fighting has more AC than you. After all it makes sense. How can you bash someone who is better armoured than you?
You see, when you talk about balance and gameplay, RP has little wieght.
I've said it like a thousand times, gameplay > RP. Don't mistake those two.
Foxx your posts make my eyes bleed.
Prot shield isn't always up and isn't available to half the classes.
Flight drops and a lot of times isn't even used.
BLMs have many other tools than crit feet...if they can't use it in a couple fights, boo-hoo.
balance means having something powerful AND having a way to defend it.

But, there is already a way to defend yourself against criticals.
You can blind them, right? So they cannot see the Criticals.

Mya, seriously, you need to play some melees
<3
Let's get this straight...
You don't want there to be thing you can do to stop crit feet.....
but you are seemingly fine with there being a way to shut down critical strike altogether?

I am fine yes, because the way you stop criticals is basicly the same way you stop mals. It is not 100% proof like protective shield VS bash, but then criticals are not as dangerous as bash, are they?
I've had my decked blademasters miss criticals 6-7 times in a row against races with masteries on. That is enough of a way to defend yourself, isn't it?
You want a widely used affect that is available in so many forms (and not just that but there are also races who have it as a feature) to stop the only useful critical that blademasters have against races without expertises. And that affect ain't even that bad really if you are smart. I don't think that is fair.
If you want to base an entire class on YOUR experience, sure, that's enough of a way.
I've fought blademasters who it felt like they never missed. Stacking both drained and caltraps on me at the same time. Ever tried to chase with that on you? FOGETABOUTIT!
My change would allow blademasters to get the affects they were designed to get, but not make their 'mals' so shaman'esque powerful. Limiting things like drained and caltraps to a 1 tick effect which can be stacked by multiple crit strikes.
Let it crush flying people's feet so it hurts when they land...but don't let it last for 7 hours.
I'm with Mindflayer. Caltraps damage feet so you lose movement faster when running. It makes sense that they wouldn't affect someone in flight. Blademasters chop at a victims feet, if they are flying then this should not have much more effect other than damage.
Taking this away from blademasters won't make the class that much less effective.
It should have some effect though. Perhaps make it an air thrash.
Blademasters critical strike maims your feet!
The force of the downward blow has caused you to land temporarily!

Lets not give Blademasters Airtrash!!!
-
Mal saves do not prevent critical strikes. They are skills.

F0xx you were probably using your arthritis Dwarven Blademaster vs a Halfling, insted of a Halfling BLM vs a Giant.
High Dex races won't fail much Criticals...
Criticals will hit 70-80% of the time.
Getting Poisoned, Wounded, Weakened, Caltraped, and Move-Damage is a bit to much. You are not going nowhere.

Over my dead body.
im just going to say that aside of getting off track here about the ninjas (epic)
That trying to play a melee ninja is like crazy suicide. Least so far for me, they have some sick tricks but i believe that if you blind em, throw your caltraps- and then trip them, its should be stack effect, because they just fell on those spikes hard. JUST A THOUGHT. the way you guys post makes me try not to put a sign on my back.
yeah.
edit- ninjas are beast
