Problem: Faeries are an inferior thief race choice.
Solution: Give faeries a prof bonus (i.e. automastery) to dodge, throw, blackjack, hide, and pilfer.
Reason: Hopefully, this should help out those thieves that are completely unable to blackjack (pry) or melee anyone. Not much of a fun thief if they can’t steal OR kill. That gives them two defensive bonuses (dodge, hide) to help make up for the constitution, two offensive bonuses (throw, pilfer) to help make up for the strength, and a rogue bonus (blackjack) to help make up for the size. With such a small size and low str/con, I don’t think this would even come close to overpowering them (or even making up for the bad stats), but at least it would be more fun. It wouldn’t affect non-thief faeries at all.
shrug
Pointless change if you ask me. No matter the automasteries, a person who wants to make a serious thief would never pick fearie.
Well, in that case, we could always let faeries fly into giant-sized PC's ears and rip their brains apart from the inside.
Let's give faerie thieves cards instead of daggers....
Let's also give them....hmmm...+3 lvls to traps...
AND the brain ripping!

Now, this not a bad idea.
Celerity's brain rip misses Valek.
Damn! Nothing there!
Well, as a faerie, you don't have the strength to carry off most of what they have, so why waste time trying to pick pocket what you want or pry when you're close to a weight limit...theft is a slow process for such low strength. I used to have my ogre carry around four bags when Sylp was around....three of them were overloaded in weight with lots of armor that he couldn't steal and every time he failed, I'd rearrange them.
Fighting? Seriously? The con and lack of protective shield won't allow you to keep up. Hence the need to rely on a truly nasty throw/traps. Else you're better off being a faerie bard. You're more likely to get to pick and choose from the corpse that way.
I usually like your ideas Celerity, but offering them automastery on skills they should have mastered anyway, just cuts down on a bit of time training...and getting those skills to 103 would of course be better...still doesn't seem like it would make them much more enjoyable.
since faerie are so tiny it would make them rather apt at creating very small traps...maybe their traps are harder to defuse and/or see depending on the size of the defuser along with the existing factors of defusion?
OR
allow them the ability to have 3 active traps at one time? (traps make a thief fun for me)
OR
both of the aforementioned ideas... "shrug"
I would like to see more faerie thieves and when I think of faerie thief I always remind myself how cool Tweelix was
what if faerie thiefs traps were super small and they could put them on items!!! "You drink from a water Jug" chest buster ANNIHILATES YOU!!!
You can already set chestbusters to large and small objects Sandbox

Heh, I thought there was a special trap designed to be placed on items...
Why would you do that ? Yes, it's fun. But if you hurt him, you cannot use backstab.
You place the trap in his backpack or sack. Pittie that you are a Faerie...
You can always place it on his recall potion, vial/sanctuary or wand of cures.
Give the faeries another trap, or two more.
dont give them anything else, just the ability to put out more traps at any given time.
4 needlers bwuahaha.

Or you can place it on the demon talisman before you plant it
more traps, more traps..
A fae should be able to lay some extra traps. Traps are the most fun part of being a thief imo, I wish you could have more than 2 traps out.
