Unfortunately, hell yes, people pick their character due to PK over roleplay, sad fact of the matter is if you cant PK for a damn, your going to spend a great deal of your life naked and running. No matter what your 'roleplay' is, there will be someone who wants to kill you for some reason. Roleplay wont keep you alive when that DK bashes your gnome warrior arse.
Heck, cabal skills aren't even 'balanced' across the board. I cant speak for all the cabals but I'd have to say savant/warmaster/nexus lead the race, followed by knight, watcher and syndicate in regards to PK assisting ability. Of course, different cabals assist different combos to a greater extent, however, I am speaking in general. Perhaps the playing field here will be evened a little with the upcoming changes.
Heck, think its time to roll a power combo!
Why'd I choose my current combo? I hadn't played in around 5 or 6 years. I was familiar with the class so I thought I'd suffer less of an arse kicking then other combos. I also had the RP angle sorted and description already written from an aborted project years ago, so this made it easy. I am a lazy person, I used to enjoy writing descriptions, big notes, applications, etc. Nowadays, I have more responsibility in my life, and 'real life' things I need to get done. So, I do whats easy. I cant stand EQ trips, training, and I almost died of boredom waiting the 50hrs to get vampire. Stat my character, anything that is mastered is mastered through necessary use, not through training. Trip, key maledictions, disarm and many other skills, barely moved from 75. About all I actually sit back and train is defenses.
I guess some people have more time then others!
