I remember slith rangers AND monks on Abandoned Realms.
AR, hah, I had some good times there. I had just had my first two pinned caballed decent pking chars there when I first came here. I a friend in game going ooc and telling me he was an imm on fl and gave me the ip to the test site, lost track of him though after they opened up the game. It might be one of you imms! Any of you start out on AR?
I remember slith rangers AND monks on Abandoned Realms.
Someone told me about this years ago, I went to AR to see it. I then wondered why they did not allow slith thieves. The reply they offered me? We do not allow that OP combo. I am very curious how slith monk is weaker than slith thief lol. Slith monk would be HORRENDOUSLY op, and I would instantly roll one up and go for Gladiator, or Pandy.
trouble with slith rangers is adding the all important trip to the class. Would be exploited, and make ravens absolutely useless.
I would like to add a side note. It seems to me there is no shortage of rangers in the game, while anything can be role played, I do not see the rangers guild as hurting for recruits at their doors now. When I think of a guild opening its doors to a new race, I would believe that the guild was suffering from poor attendance and needing recruits forcing them to alter their standards. For example, we see so few bards, perhaps the bards guild should open their doors to other races and we could watch them flourish. Perhaps Ogres, Ferals, Werebeasts, and Sliths.
And do away with dwarf blademasters while we are at it. Goodies/neutrals already have halflings, let duergar blms be the answer on THE EVIL SIDE!

As Suunmar proved on Abandoned Realms, slith monks were way overpowered.
I'd be all for dropping ogre rangers and adding slith rangers....
and letting feral be zerks
feral berserkers would rock hard
I am for letting werebeasts pick the friggin beast they want to be. I hate having to roll 234859723458923 werebeasts to still not get the one I want. Its a waste of time and really grinds my gears.

i like all of the wereforms tbh, some are nicer than others i guess for certain things. the thing i absolutely hate about wereforms is they are impossible to use as a ranger, if you cant throw or use bows in wereform that nullify's 2 of the 3 paths right there. I had a wolf werebeast ranger that i loved problem is he was an archer and 90% of the time i had to pick archery or my wereform and the majority of the time i needed both.

Agreed. If they are well balanced (as the immortals claim), why not let people choose?

I wish I could have my cake and eat it too.
Well then, why not make classes/races randomly given then?
Hell, even ethos/align?!?
I mean, since this MUD is not only about PK... why not?
lol rut ro, lets not pick on the immortals haha, its not a right to play here its a privilege. I think we all forget that at points. Best we can do is submit what we think is right for the game and let them interpret that in a way that they feel works out for the mud's best interest.
Thank being said...
I submitted my slith ranger app... its very different than what you might typically expect from a ranger app but i like the story. I'm not the best writer so i guess we'll see what happens... gonna pour my heart in soul into this one. If i do manage to pull it off this might be my first condeath ever lol.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you implying that people's ethics, morals, and choice of profession are random (or genetic)?
I can point you to a staggering amount of research that says otherwise...

i think he's implying that alot of people pick their race/class based on pk reasons as apposed to rp reasons. but then again, i'm just a spectator in this sport.
I think foxx just got owned. I have to say though, that I too think it would be neat to know in advance what kind of werebeast you will become. I mean, many people roleplay that they get qraces unwillingly while the player behind the character knows all along that he is going for that said qrace.
Unfortunately, hell yes, people pick their character due to PK over roleplay, sad fact of the matter is if you cant PK for a damn, your going to spend a great deal of your life naked and running. No matter what your 'roleplay' is, there will be someone who wants to kill you for some reason. Roleplay wont keep you alive when that DK bashes your gnome warrior arse.
Heck, cabal skills aren't even 'balanced' across the board. I cant speak for all the cabals but I'd have to say savant/warmaster/nexus lead the race, followed by knight, watcher and syndicate in regards to PK assisting ability. Of course, different cabals assist different combos to a greater extent, however, I am speaking in general. Perhaps the playing field here will be evened a little with the upcoming changes.
Heck, think its time to roll a power combo!
Why'd I choose my current combo? I hadn't played in around 5 or 6 years. I was familiar with the class so I thought I'd suffer less of an arse kicking then other combos. I also had the RP angle sorted and description already written from an aborted project years ago, so this made it easy. I am a lazy person, I used to enjoy writing descriptions, big notes, applications, etc. Nowadays, I have more responsibility in my life, and 'real life' things I need to get done. So, I do whats easy. I cant stand EQ trips, training, and I almost died of boredom waiting the 50hrs to get vampire. Stat my character, anything that is mastered is mastered through necessary use, not through training. Trip, key maledictions, disarm and many other skills, barely moved from 75. About all I actually sit back and train is defenses.
I guess some people have more time then others!
Heralds are overpowered. Someone roll one.
