Holiday/New Years Present

I was just thinking the same thing! I'm guessing dark knight Tribunal! Masokant number two!

Lol! That made me think of Batman. That would be cool to have a Batman RP

Me and my mate have begun playing again because of this, brilliant idea imo

Couldn't stay away?

Heh.

LOVE IT. I think this should be done 100% of the time.

I've actually ranked a new character, and it takes me being condead from my previous character for weeks before i usually roll a new one, let alone rank him up. I'm even thinking about ranking another one!

I finally have my 3rd pinn ever.

Go Dizz!

I would also argue just to leave it in place permanently.

The problem with leaving it in place all the time is that it depreciates the value of a character. When you can level a character to 50 in a relatively small amount of time, the character simply doesn't mean as much. I can have a small army of characters leveled by the end of the week, under current conditions, but would I really care about any of them? No.

Granted, this is personal opinion, but then again, I rank and train most of my characters in 20-30 hours anyway. Hence why they also don't tend to last very long.

In short, I like this being a temporary, occasional thing.

Agreed completely with Bali.

Yes and no. Its simply a demonstration of experience to be able to get a character going that fast. Personally, I pinnacle all of my characters (fully trained) in around 35- 40 hours playing in offpeak times depending on group availability.

The major difference is our pbase size. Once you get to a certain size finding a ranking group can become very, very easy. Occasionally you get everyone at lvl 50 (which is awesome :-) ) but usually there are people who want to rank.

Here's to a larger playerbase :-D

L-A

Actually, if this would bring more players in, and from what we experienced last week, I believe it will, I am for.

Considering that I have ever only had 3 pinns, due to experience/ranking problems, I disagree. That 35-45 range is really hard to find people to rank with. The levels have a wider spread of points to gain, the monsters more difficult and few characters in that range to group with. Once you do get a group, it can go relatively quick unless someone has to leave and the whole thing breaks up. That is why it's hard to find players, they fly through those ranks really fast. So yes. I think that exp gained should be permanent.

I already said I was for keeping it in place, why are we still discussing it?

Seriously though, the "game" isn't ranking. The game is player to player interaction via roleplay and pk. The argument could be made that ranking forces player to player interaction over time, but it is my belief that the experience bonus has and will continue to take away some of the hopeless grinding-like playtime that is the bane of all online RPG's.

If people agree that this is a good thing, then I am not stalwartly opposed to it.

Also, I'm not blind, and I do acknowledge that, seemingly, this has caused a pretty nice jump in the average number of players online lately. If that is the case, and this is truly the source of that, then I agree with those individuals who are for this idea.

I'm all for it, in a sense the game starts at 50, though this is easily debatable. However, I have felt like my RP with my current char isn't sorted out yet because I was just too eager to get rolled and ranking,I rocketed up to the 40's and now that I'm training him (57 hours so far, but I'm pretty slow ) I have time to think about my RP and sort out things that were inconsistent.

For me, lack of attachment to a character comes from not sorting out your RP before you hit "roll" rather than how long it takes you to level to 50.. at least that's how it is for me, but I'm not that good at roleplaying anyway. Anything that brings more players to the MUD deserves to be considered though I think.

And awesome thinking on behalf of the staff to try this out, thanks a heap guys!

Well, everyone's time is different. It is a hobby for everyone, but not everyone can put the hours in that some of you folks can

30, wife, kid, 8:30-5:00 job, hour commute both ways, freelance work in the evenings/weekends, various meetings during the week after work, family time, household duties, etc, and I'm usually traveling close to 40 weekends out of the year, my playing time consists of setting my alarm for 4:30am so that I can hopefully get an hour and a half in before the day starts in my real world. I wish I could put more time in, so something like this helps, to which I will say, I never got the chance to try it out.

Hmmm....

I would like to see something like this stay as it would make it easier for level 50's to help a level 43 rank into 50 without wasting too much of their time or getting them killed.

Then again, I usually play at a really crappy time. Quests have made it easier.

So, I'm thinking, how about make this like...a holiday thing or whatever? Something to hopefully bring people in when it's slow. I doubt this would retain new players because unless you have to work for something you can't ever truly appreciate it. So, if a new player believe this is a norm (no matter how much we tell them different...face it folks, no one will ever understand what we went through in 1.0) they won't appreciate it as much.

I, however, am incredibly grateful for it. I doubt I'd be doing so well without it. 40-50 has been the roughest of times for me lately.

Re DVD: I feel ya, brother. I can usually put in about two hours a day, sometimes none. Once I hit the 40's, it's like grinding quests might get me half a level/day. Turning down Gear/Desolation/Faction trips I really need to go on so I can learn about equipment that everyone else knows all about because my time is almost up is rough. Just yesterday I was trying to make a run for 50 and told my wife I needed just a few more minutes and she unplugged the computer on me.

Lolololol, who's the man in your house?

Lolololol' date=' who's the man in your house? [/quote']

That's sketchy right now. I'm trying to quit smoking, haven't had one since the 31st of December, and I can't blame her for unplugging the computer. I'm not easy to live with right now and I had been on for just over 4 hours, grunting/screaming/laughing at the computer screen. Quitting smoking is definitely helping my RP.

But, on a side note, let's do some form of XP boost for certain times of the year/week/day, whatever!
