I know the Imms have said they're working on equipment balancing, but I thought of an idea.
Make cabal equipment as good or better than stuff you can get in gear/deso/etc. That way, non-caballed characters can get gear that makes them competitive.

Gonna be honest with you, I like that idea. Although if they made cabal equipment better, than they would have to make the CP required to buy said gear much higher.
That would negate the entire reason for making it better. If it's that much harder to get, people will say forget it, and just pick up the non-cabal gear.
Let's not.
Elders normally have ungodly CP's.
No need to give them rare unique at a finger snap.
Direction is cheep, but useful.

I've translated that into "roll a thief."
The direction to go regarding cabal equipment is cheep items that are at the same time useful, but not uber.
What I'm saying is we WANT caballed people to use cabal gear. That way uncaballed people can get the stuff from factions/gear and be just as competitive. You've already got cabal skills/spells and people to watch your back, why not give the guy without those bonuses a chance?
Define "stuff from factions/gear".
Gear shield
Power Hammer
Accuracy Ring
Dragon Ring
White belt
Warpain mask
Yes.
Discordmask
Sceptre
Hell Polearm
Nimbus
Eye of Duchess
Fang
Etheral radiance ~ (maibe)
Hell, no.
I think a lot of those fall 'no's' fall under the DUH category mya. And I'm really only talking about armor, not weapons, or stuff that gives additional affects beyond ac/hit/etc.
