**** Mob Deaths!

Let's just remove the XP Penalty after mob death. We've removed it up to thirty. If anyone can give me a reason beyond "we want people to appreciate death", give it to me! I can't see any reason to slap someone on the back of the hand for this.

It doesn't promote exploration and there's nothing like seeing

You can't escape!

You can't escape!

You can't escape!

You can't escape!

So and So disarms your weapon and sends it flying!

You can't escape!

The Gods have Forsaken you.

You have been KILLED!

You don't have enough mana.

You don't have enough mana.

EDIT: If you're wondering about the fleeing, I spammed that crap and still couldn't flee, with like six in game hours left on pass door. I was under half health and wanted out. I died again an hour later (Real Life hour), same place, because I didn't keep a good enough eye on pass door.

Well tbh I think ranking is already hard enough and the con loss penalty is...well enough.

So yeah I agree with Valek.

You can quaff potions while you are fighting.

Sheath;hold potions;quaff potion.

But you can fumble and drop it halfway.

I always have a backup pass door potion to prevent your case.

Also, cursed weapons do wonders. Especially for mages.

Or where you trying to kill a certain hidden dragon in a certain mansion ?

If so, know that Pinacles become traped there all the time. Bad place to go alone.

Reason to not remove XP pen on mob death.

People in the old days would kill themselves, and then go to Shandor and get 50 non rare eq from the ground.

It's a risk reward thing. It encourages people to be more mindfull of their lives when they risk more than 16 min wait at their pit for their EQ.

I used to play this mud, where you actually deleved from XP loss. Can you imagine going down a level every time your pinnacle dies ?

It really made people wary of dieing, making them try extremely hard to save their skin when they where about to die.

  1. I'm aware of being able to hold potions and quaff them in combat.

  2. I HATE ******* dying to start with.

  3. I don't have to wait at my pit. I can get almost anywhere in less than five minutes.

  4. The con loss alone should be enough. Losing a life is enough on its own. When I hit 50, I usually take 5-10 PKs per day life loss because I refuse to log off...then I delete. Don't take this as something to pick my apart my PK skills.

  5. S'Handor doesn't exist anymore. And I have no idea what you're talking about as far as people waltzing in there and grabbing equipment off the ground.

  6. Honestly, I'm not sure what your entire post is about....

I think death needs to be appreciated - and there should be some penalty. Nothing is for free - and to be honest, if it teaches you to watch your potions or know that some places are VERY dangerous without a group that's still teaching you something.

Besides - imagine how much more weapon training you can get irn while regaining the experience. You won't have to stop and master weapons at lvl 41 (well, not as many) :-D

Wholly against this. Con loss isn't really a big enough deal to warrant it being the only penalty on death (aside from potential loss of EQ).

Sometimes, those situations such as what you experienced happen - they're not the norm, when things go perfectly awful and you find yourself unable to flee with no weapon and your buffs dropping. If it is the norm, then you're either trying to take on mobs that you can't kill alone anyway or you're not putting up the appropriate buffs. 99% of my mobdeaths are down to my own ****ing stupidity or taking big risks and gambles, as opposed to the game actually letting me down on a regular basis with being unable to flee whilst they disarm my cursed weapons and dispel my sanc whilst bashing me with a bash so powerful it destroys my protective shield.

Dey

yeah I find that most of my mob deaths are that I forget Im no longer a pinnacle decked out my arse and cant kill those things has a close to naked rank 24 invoker.

I know the felling. Getting Pawned by Jhaerek at L30, because it used to be so easy.

Bah...I'm thinking maybe I just got too cocky, was takin' on three mobs, I was flying with protective shield and plenty of time on pass door.

Too bad that time kinda disappears when you're wielding a staff that gets disarmed. I need to figure out a way to get my weapons cursed without using that black heart. Also gotta flee and wield something else, stop worrying so much about picking up that weapon. That cost me around. It's not like the mobs are going to sac it or pick it up and wield it against me.

And I always take my mob deaths in the higher ranks now. I haven't had a mob death pre-40 in years. Must be all them nice skills and spells and high hit points....

Check out the Faction of Magic for a certain item to make items cursed without the downsides of the Black Heart. However when limited to the Black Heart - as that item is in high demand, sheath your staff whenever possible. It will autodraw on use, and you won't have the negatives for 99% of the time.

Marmalade orb. Or PK a non illithiad Necromancer.

Maaaan, she has the answer for everything

Please Mya, stop advising people to use the marmalade orb. Thats why it's never there when I go look for it

I suppose if all you need is a cursed weapon that dagger is pretty much always there around the entrance to blood as well.

Love the tips, guys, but you're assuming I know WHERE the factions are....

And, geez, you're giving an awful lot of info....

Don't you dare even give me a HINT on these forums as to where they are either.....

You are welcome Valek.

As the place where you can find this exotic blade, it's in the Forsaken Lands Desert just west of Mirhuv. You should explore the areas outside of the road, in the deadest of the night. Around Midnight would be great, as you will be harder to spot and thus safe.

Just be careful next time, it brings us no joy when a fellow player dies to some forsaken mob while trying to get some underpowered item.

Are you developing a sense of sarcasm?
