A note system

Not notes as in sending people notes like we have it now, more like how if you are in class you have to right notes to study or keep track of what you know or dont know.

I know that some of you might be thinking well you have notepad so why not use that to keep track of things for you char. I do that but sometimes it is a bit frustrating and annoying to be constantly switching screens back and forth. That has cost me a few lives over the years that I played here (but then again that is my fault.).

The reason I would like the MUD to have something like this is I can see some minor and some aid for the players. For example, lets say you ask someone for some directions, and they tell you how to get there instead of keep on asking them if you forgot you have it 'written down' in the 'note system'. So all you really need is look at your notes and there you go it is right there instead of looking for it on your comp trying to find out where you put it. Another application I can see it for is for RP, I know that sometimes when I play a char I have had times when my char would be inclined to kill certains people for specific reason, like one of my old DKs he was a follower of the one and his rp was 'trying' to be a anti crusader. He would kill any follower of the one if they meet the requirements of a crusder. If we had this then I can see all those that I would deem my enemies fast and easily, because many times I tend to forget who was who .

I know you can send notes to yourself but after a while they will be deleted. Or maybe have a save command for notes that no matter how long you have the note it will not be deleted? This is a minor thing that I think would help the Playerbase. I know I for one use a lot of notepad docs just to get my chars Rp more fleshed out. Good, bad, so-so idea? What do you think? Your opinions matter.

I can think of one problem being lag and server space..

All this additional information might take a toll on the mud. Especially if everybody is using it, and over a long life have PAGES of 'notes' that have to load up every time you log in.

It's not a bad idea, but it's not really a necessery/very important one.

Also Aulian made some strong points.

I never said it was an important one, just something I think would help, but yes, yes he did bring up a good point. I didnt think of that when I was writing it.

I have to go with you though, I think its an awesome idea. Hard to keep track of everything especially if your life doesnt revolve around this game ...

I can also see that we dont have the system in place for this to be implemented, but still the fact it is a great idea is not in the slightest of doubt in my mind.

  • Although, if you get a client with a decent buffer, you should be able to keep track of things well enough or even look back at them later... I would not suggest using GMUD like I do for this
