Tmote

I wish there was someway to emote (at least intonation) in tells that are sent to other players. I think this would really help RP in PK.

Example:

-DK, with whom you've had no previous interation, attacks Halfling Thief, ready to pWN his face!

-He flees, runs, and hides.

DK Sees:

-Halfling Thief tells you "I assume you attacked me because, deep down, you're afraid of me?"

-DK gets pissed, and doesn't rest until he proves his beastly-ness to Halfling Thief!

Same scenario With Tmote:

-Halfling Thief tells you between deep gasps, chuckling nervously, "I assume you attacked me because, deep down, you're afraid of me?"

DK thinks to himself: Aww that cute cuddly jokester! How could I stay mad at him?!?! Now I shall threaten him so that he will do my bidding!

Another situation:

-Random Ranger tells you "You wanna hunt?"

-You tell ranger between lustful pants, "Uh...I'm a little busy now..."

-Ranger thinks: Oh...blush

Stuffies like that.

I understand the management of this may be the issue, I.E. how to you prevent someone from using physical emotes within the Tmote system which should only allow players to convey varied forms of audible interaction?

-Solution: Honor Code?

That works very well with other things...Like...Um... >.>

RP that's not more abusable than regular tells, etc. I like it.

The only concern that I have, is that we really don't have a concrete, universal definition for what the RP surrounding tells is supposed to be. I've seen people treat them as anything from telepathy to a messenger.

I think before we can make tells more complex, we need to either decide or be given a definition of what we want our tells to be RPed as. For example, if you're playing a character as though their tells are a scroll sent by messenger, how do you RP an emote in that? "Here, Billy Badass told me to give you this. And he also told me to laugh at you for him."

I'm not typically one for establishing concrete directions for anything in this game, but I think that this is something that could be addressed to simplify any confusion that may result.

If you're a mute, I was always under the impression that you should talk via the message system in the game. I.E. - Write a note to the person you wanna talk to...Is that not possible?

I was also under the impression that telepathy is something determined per IMM. I.E. - You just see their name in brackets and what they say:

[Zaulael] "Die."

Not a bad idea.

Cmon peeps! More feedback?

Would this be a feasible code?

As far as the nature of tells goes, I liken it a lot to telepathy - the exact nature is, in my mind, a bit different. Telepathy can perform/mimic tells, but tells aren't telepathy precisely (though close), but rather an innate ability of communication possessed by a great majority of sentient beings of Aabahran.

I have no reason to be against or not to support the idea, but it might take away from face-to-face interaction and its possibilities and nuances.

Now see I would think the exact opposite. I would look at 'Tmote' as cracking the door to face-to-face RP. Without Tmote, I'm not any less inclined to send tells...I just feel more limited and annoyed when I do.
