Exp bonuses

I -despise- the yellow smiling face smiley. To me, when added after something that could be seen as a flame or negative comment/criticism, it seems very smug and just makes it worse.

Dey

Still makes a difference.

See, the smiley face you put there says to me "I'm arguing against you, and feel I am right." as opposed to "I'm arguing against you."

Dey

The wink is better, as it's more of a "Just kidding!"

Damned Brit!

See? Not offensive, because of the wink.

Exactly.

The huge grin is good too, because it says "I'm being blatantly being a cheeky little sod!".

Damned Americans.

Dey

I like the eye roll because it says, "I see your point, but still think you're a ****ing moron."

Dey, I guess you get things right sometimes.

The tongue also works, as an "I'm just poking fun at you, don't take it seriously." It signifies amusement without consequences.

Like time spent with Twin's mom.

How about, stop derailing the topic with this smiley discussion...

Everybody listen to TNG

aww.. poor TNG.. pissed off about a simple derail..

not like it happens every post

Im sorry I started an entire page of stupid smiley crap

And you don't seem to try to stop it either.

no you're not

I hate my life.

sorry i killed it:cool:

just now. with that

I think the exp penalties are absolutely fine in accordance to what you are playing.

A human pally is strong, an elf pally is way stronger.

Ogre zerk is strong, mino zerk is stronger.

human voker is ok, gnome voker is stronger.

Basically you ARE getting perks for your race. And elf paladin is leagues stronger (IF PROPERLY PLAYED) than almost any other race/class you can pick out of the gate. You should have to put more work into it. It costs more, because you get more.

Human pally = Honda Civic

Elf Pally = Acura RSX

Sure, honda makes them both, they are both coups, they are both four bangers. But for that extra cash, you get alot more bells and whistles with that RSX.

You're not getting it, yes an Elf pally is better than a human and that's FINE. But should an Elf warrior have a larger penalty than a Fire giant or an Ogre? Basically I'm saying have a different bonus for each class a race can be. Like for an Elf. I'm only using an Elf for an example because a higher exp race makes a better example here.

Warrior:

Elf- 500exp Ogre 250 exp Fire Giant 200exp

Thief:

Elf- 500exp Halfling 350exp

Ranger:

Elf- 700 exp Ogre 450 exp Stone Giant375 exp

Blademaster

Elf- 850 exp Slith 850 exp Halfling 700 exp

Do you see what I'm saying? An Elf warrior should have around 200exp bonus, you have low str, low con, can't touch iron which limits equipment/weapons, bash isn't as good. Sure you have a lot of mana, that'll help for when you really need that battle shout.

A Halfling which was a race that I believe was intended mainly as a thief has a lower exp bonus than an Elf. Sure an Elf has auto-sneak, but sneak is a skill of that class so whoo hoo.

Ranger:

Yeah I've seen some good Elf rangers, here the sneak works better but pets give it away sometimes. An Ogre, Stone Giant, or Werebeast would be a better choice.

Elf Blademaster:

High mana for those long fights that your low con won't let you stay for anyways. Again no iron weapons, low str limits weaponry. The Dex is pretty good but other races have more benefits towards you.

There's other examples from other races but here's the ones I drug up quickly. All I'm saying is that if it's not a lot of code it wouldn't hurt for each class of a race to have a different bonus. Yeah the way things are now is simple and easy to code, and this isn't even a big deal to me. I just thought it'd be nice for each race/class combination's exp to reflect the power of that combination.

I concur that a Elven/Drow Warrior shouldn't have the same experience penalty as a Elven/Drow Cleric/Invoker. However like it's been stated already it was pretty much set based off the most commonly used classes for that race, not all classes a race can be. Not only that but when a race has a vuln the experience penalty isn't as harsh and is usually dropped.

Ogre = magic vuln = 250exp penalty

Minotaur = no vuln = 500exp penalty

That didn't include all the perks either get as well. And you can't really bash on an Elven Blademaster because with a certain stance your strength and dexterity switch I believe. It's been a long time since I last played one though so I might be off but I'm sure that's right. Not only that but you get 110 in Elven anatomy just by going that race without wasting an expertise/mastery on it which nails a lot of C/Cs in that group.

But generally the races with higher experience penalties are races that have no vuln and have a few perks to boot while all the lower experience penalty races are lower because of having a vuln. Humans don't have a vuln, but neither do they have any perks really other than the bonus to magic but even that's so minute that it doesn't always seem to make a difference anyways.

Easiest thing to do is don't choose an Elven Warrior/Gnome Warrior unless you have a great RP setup for it or something else off the wall. Otherwise expect to be more fodder for them DKs sitting and waiting to feed their malforms. You could always go against the grain though and do what you want and not care about the penalty as well. I play a race/class based off of what RP I would like to go, not if it'll help me PK better.

the stance makes them the same. your str becomes the same as your dex.

if im not mistaken.

While under its effects the blademaster begins to use the principles of

powerstrike and footwork on his own muscles and movement. As a result

his strength becomes completely dependent on his dexterity.

You can be cordial and nice all you want to anyone, unless you're Eastern European. No offence.
