I do not think warriors/ninjas should be able to return fire 6 rooms away at an archer ranger. They should be able to if it is a room away (because that is as far as they can shoot) but shooting back faster than they can normally shoot at a farther disatance than a room away is a bit troubling if your an archer.
return firing on fired weapons
I agree.
Are you telling me, that if you are a Ranger archer and Fire your bow from Max Range, a Warrior will automatically shoot back ?
No. I think he is saying Archer Rangers should have the range advantage on a ninja, warrior, or non-archer ranger ranger. There is not auto fire back.
No, I am saying non archers DO fire back at full range. If I was an archer and fired at a war 5 rooms away, the warrior would fire back at the same rate, and distance my archer does.

archer is supposed to make you better with arrows then most rangers, its not a ranged class. archers are fine, i killed with them easily and often.
also, their not returning fire with arrows that put you to sleep or poison / plague you. You have a significant advantage over those classes in ranged more than you make it sound like.

Yeah. That's what I said. You are saying ARCHER rangers SHOULD have the range advantage. Mya was thinking there was an autofire back. Which isn't true.
After playing an archer ranger, I would have to agree with the range/speed issue with warriors/ninjas. Sandbox brings up an interesting point with the arrow specialties.. i never had a problem simply putting the ones who fired back to sleep, and ambushing them
But it does defy reason that a warrior/ninja can someone match your rapid fire stance, simply because they can return fire? good god... elshan with godforged arrows returning fire? ouch.
trust me, archery rangers dont need anything, their very powerful. giving them anything extra would just make them even more OP.
Yeah, I don't know much since the missile shield scrolls were changed, but I was very unsatisfied as an Archery ranger, vs a tracker path, or even beastmaster before the changes. Your entire path skillset could be nullified for the better part of a fight with one 10,000 gold scroll. And it was, on almost every occassion nullified by anyone who could use the scrolls ![]()
i never played them before the change as i came after, but i never lost to another ranger, was very easy to sleep them kill their pets then destroy them.

I didn't!
If an archer shoots you from out of your range you should not get to shoot back. That isn't a boost to archer rangers, that's just making sure other bow users aren't doing anything they can't normally do. Same applies to rate of fire.
Oddly enough with my archer no one I fought used the scrolls. And I could be wrong, but don't warriors in fact autofire??? I though so, anyhow.
I assume this was done for balance reasons.
Seems like a bug - if a class can't normally fire an arrow five rooms why should it be able to when they're getting shot at?

Lol sorry Sandbox but im going to step in here because you are very wrong..
I have played some EXCEEDINGLY successful archer rangers and this is MOST DEFINATELY a bug...
The **whole point of choosing the ranger option **is to have that distance advantage, as well as speed in firing advantage. I can remember shooting some opponents from distance and they were doing more damage to me then I was to them.
Later on in the game using your bow effectively can be a MAJOR tactic to taking down some types of foe, having them able to use basically the SAME ability (although not initiate it) makes your path pretty much null and void.
I do believe I mentioned this to the imms a while ago when I had been playing Dumela a wee while.

Inaccurate.
I have not played one since the missile shield change either, however, I have played a fair share of archery rangers as well. The fact is that, if I'm shooting at someone without a vuln and they're shooting back vuln arrows and outdamaging me, that's a bit ridiculous. Archers should have a range advantage, as well as a speed advantage, because those are the perks of their skill subset. To nullify those perks is to essentially reduce them to exactly what rangers were before the integration of selectable skills: warriors with less defenses and pets.
It's the same problem with the beastmaster path. Beastmaster rangers are absolutely useless for all intents and purposes. Yes, there was a successful one - Senrail. However, everyone can admit that Senrail would have been infinitely more effective if he had chosen another path.
There is nothing overpowered about rangers presently (although there is arguably an overpowered race/class/cabal combo or two), but the same can be said of most classes.
Edit: Also...

Anyone? Anyone?
