losing connection

When you lose connection to the mud and have not been in combat recently (ie your blood is rushing) it should disconnect you IMMEDIATLY

There is no room for abuse in these instances and dieing because your internet crapped out is stupid.

When your internet dies - it looks to the mud exactly the same as if you just close your client down i thought? Whats to stop people doing that then.

what abuse is there if a person closes their client rather than type quit? The mud should behave the same in either instance. The same goes if you have been in combat, closing your client still wouldnt log you out in these cases...just like typing quit wont until time has passed.

Agreed, I don't see how it can be abused and dying because you lost your net while you were not engaged recently is really stupid.

It should automatically log you out if you were able to "quit" anyway when you lose connection.

You might not want it. If I get booted when I am holding too much rare stuff, I want to be able to snap right back in and not see them gone. It's only really a bad thing when you lose connection and can't get it back, which happens relatively rarely.

I'd take the risk of that over the risk of sitting there linkdead for any newb to come along and kill me and take ALL of my eq.

yeah im with pali, oh no I lost my glimmering staff or one weapon...thats nothing compared to frantically trying to login to see your to late, at your altar with 3hp.

Besides, it can always be made optional.

This is a great idea, and I agree with Foxx. Make it toggleable, like:

autoexit on/off

I don't see any problems with it.

This protection is already there. Viri added it a long time ago. Early 1.0, if remember correctly.

Yeah, Mudder is right.

If someone has their "PK timer" as I like to call it clear (as in, the length of time has passed where after PK someone could normally quit) and you try to attack them it just says "Player X is lost."
