Bumping this because nobody has read it. ![]()
Ah... Having done a lot of OLC building I have to comment that this would take a lot of time.
An area like gear boggles my mind... That is some serious OLC right there. I wouldnt say I could not build an area like gear, but I'd definately say ask me in three years if its done.
moar z0nz plz
mutter Glad my efforts are appreciated. ![]()
What? You don't like the dresses?

Happy Thanksgiving!
What Reefer is saying is, he wants more challenge areas, like Gear, Blood, Magic, Steel, Discord, Desolation, and Avalon.
I've done OLC too, and those areas like that can be REALLY REALLY REALLY tough...
I know what the building process is like, I just think it would be cool if there were more uber zones. Not saying it would be quick, I'm talking about some epic stuff here. Things that would take like hours to complete that hold mass treasues that may all never be discovered... That sounds hoss. New Elven city looks great, Is. Epic quest zones though, who's with me?
Hi Isadora, haven't seen you in a long time! Mwah
Gear still amazes me. Not only is a zone like that alot of work. The progs must have taken FOREVER.
I have actually gasp started the groundwork for a new quest-like area. Think old-fashioned D&D dungeon crawl...
Whenever I get all the descriptions and mobs done, I will send it to one of the head-honchos to look over. But don't hold your breath, my free time is limited.
Are we allowed to send our **** in? I have one called "The Isle of Disenchantment." its pretty sweet.
How about an ancient enchanted booby trapped tomb within the pyramids? How about it separate the players at first and they would encounter traps that would eliminate individual players depending on the choices they make whether it be with answering questions or luck as in a choice to go one way or another at a path branching off into two directions. And if successful they'd all come together again to solve the rest of it all.
Or about the idea of a crazed minotaur in the center of a stone labryinth like maze tasked with keeping the treasures within safe. The only way to get through it without getting lost, running out of time, or eaten is by gathering maps throughout Aabahran someway.
Hmm we really don't have a desert in fl do we? The chance of dying of thirst and starvation in a zone such as this can really put an emphasis on rp and realism and ofcourse great rewards will await those whom survive.
I think time based zones and groups being forced to split up really raises the anxiety and creates much more entertaining experiences.
I agree with you, Tassin, time based, all kinds of variables that have to be figured out... like some ghost house you can only see at midnight and you have to enter then... then its like, whatever, you get the idea.

I think it would be much less enjoyable solving puzzles, etc, by yourself than with a group though.
I have on designed but lack the skill to complete it. I have tried MANY times to do it on my own "test port" game. It's like the old Wizardry V game mixed with a little "Cube" series where the rooms rotate every so many hours that you have to keep track of where you are and where you moved. It's wicked in theory but the coding is HELL. I TELL YOU HELLLLLLLLL!
wait.. can I even say hell? erp..

Maybe maybe not. Having to solve puzzles on your own away from the group takes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to think and find the answer on your own, searching for clues you may have encountered during the trip through the zone from your own perspective. Either way I'm only suggesting splitting up the groups for part of the trip.
Ideas are sweeeeet, but who is going to do it? Can anyone even do that is a better question? I like the whole pyramid mummy tomb thing, and traps and treasures though.
can I make my own area?
I duno anything about coding but if make a description for all my rooms, mob names, descriptions, items there, what the map would like from a birds eye view above. I'm totally creative and I would like to contribute a area to the mud, even if it's a pointless area, I just want to do it...
