I believe that our exp penalties are very outdated for classes. This is a new list that may not be perfect but fits our game much better.
0:
Bard
Berserker
Dark-Knight
Thief
150:
Monk
Paladin
200:
Warrior
Ninja
250:
Cleric
Druid
Healer
Shaman
300:
Invoker
Battlemage
350:
Ranger
Necromancer
Blademaster
Heh, is this some kind of a joke?
a low xp pen DK will be killing newbs like no other.
So do low xp warriors, thieves, bards, bmgs, invokers, necromancers, clerics, and shaman (current zero exp classes)
What about it? Is there something wrong with DK's killing newbs as opposed to another class?
Well, this EXP penalty rearrangement is so wrong, besides I don't see why Celerity doesn't like the current system, I think it's almost perfect.

Yes actually, since they get a skill that encourages them to kill like that, that would just make it MUCH easier for them.
I also don't like the XP penalties you put on c/c classes, like they can go and kill mobs alone like the mele classes...
Besides what is the reason for you to want such a rearrangement?
there's nothing at all wrong with DKs pk'ing at any level, nothing any more wrong than any other class. this mentality of a DK having to have this extra amount of RP/class/whatever is baseless. the only time extra talent should be taken into account for a DK killing others as some sort of requisite is when the DK is an applicant for a qrace, which is often the case since the DK class is supposed to be the breeding ground for vamps and such.
Umm...from my experience C/C tend to solo things more effectively than melees. BMGs specifically jump to mind.
I see what Celerity is getting at. I have to say, I agree.

I don't disagree with anything but I'll ask my newb question of the week. Why does it matter? I don't know what's up with the current xp penatlies, OR why this would be better. I'm ignorant.
Save me!
it's really not an urgent matter. of all the "burning issues" of the game, this one pretty much doesn't rank. also, doesn't the exp penalties put c/c 's in a more appropriate PK range anyway? i thought these exp penalties kind of compensate for c/c 's wielding skills that can romp on a lot of classes on the road to pinnacle. maybe the penalties don't do that.
Am I the only one that loves Celerity's razor sharp wit? Seriously though, I like almost all of her exp penalty suggestions. Necros = scary melee dmg, mals, aff. Rangers = Don't get me started on how insane they are. Pallys I think need to be a higher pen then she suggested, but other than that I think she has some great ideas.
EDIT: I think her suggestion for warriors at 200 exp is a bit high too...the dex warriors get semi-shafted as is...150 maybe?

Ah I actually find it easier to kill mobs with c/c classes then most melee's.... Maybe im doing something wrong?
Malform weapon is not a skill you get at 30 anymore. At 43, it is the other classes that are more powerful than the DK, not the reverse.
And killing people significantly lower than you in rank affects the malform so minutely it's barely even worth the DK's time.

I am talking about the low levels, rank 10-30 is a real nightmare for a c/c without a group. Share your secret perhaps, I am interested how a necro at rank 15 can kill mobs easier than any mele class
Mastered blind (fully possible @ 15), stone golem from scroll + Alsatian/bought pet of your choice. That gets you 3 extra attacks that do maim-LACERATE depending on what kind of luck you get on the rolls + longer lasting blindness than a melee of that level.
If you've spent time mastering curse/weaken and possibly poison you can sap away alot of the power of the mobs you can take at that level. Doesn't seem like a bad trade-off to me.
Yes, and we aren't trying to make them equally easy to rank - that isn't what the exp penalty is about I think
a melee SHOULD have an easier time ranking
exp cost is MOSTLY relative to the class's power at 50 + general adaptability
like commonly cited for race xp pens, the more xp cost, the more "perks"--same goes with classes

You cannot master ANY skill til level 16
