We hardly see any Drow Battlemages, and some of us know why playing them can be frustrating if you are not cabaled.
And even then, most always go for the Cabal thing in Cabal y.
What if we removed the Silver restriction on the non rare Wand of Santuary ?
This would surely make us see more of those lovely Drow Battlemages.
Of course this would also aid Drow DK's and Necros, but we hardly ever see any of those also.
What you think ?
Drow battlemages are a power house, and even more so when they're in the correct cabal. They don't need anything.
Battlemages can get the glimmering white staff so easy, it's not even funny.
Yeah and I disagree with not seeing any, in fact 2 of the 4 only active battlemages in recent times have been drow. I played a drow bmg for a long time and never had any real frustrations.
they have to get new shoes every week from kicking everyones *** all the time.
That and you have SO many great spells to choose from that's it can be really tough maintaining that affects list. Oh the headache!
Autosneak makes it hard to use someone's triggers against them.
Wielding a noremove sword as a mage gets you strange looks in the playground.
Heavy armors from so many PKs makes you vulnerable to thunderstorm.
Large amounts of mana put you at risk of RSI from casting sharpmetal.
All the damage from blades against ranger pets makes it hard to keep up with the text.
You can't neutralize your vuln like a gnome (ok this is a real one).

Gnomes don't have bash vuln anymore.
You forgot, can't re-equip in full mithril, too many people sending you tells asking for help getting eq, and risk of being bountied heavily by all the people who are jealous of you.
Mental vuln I think he was talking about. Manalock isn't the godsend it appears to be on paper (though don't get me wrong, it is fantastic).
But yeah, Drow BMGs suck for the reasons stated above.

he wasnt refering to bash.
he wasnt refering to bash.
Actually, I was--but it's better that way anyhow:
You can't neutralize your vuln like gnomes used to be able to.
You guys forget the main reason it sucks to be a drow bmg...sometimes your blades take care of your emo tendancies, so you can't enjoy the fun.

Santuary. Newbie players might find dificult to get a reliable Santuary form.
I just wanted them to be able to use the Ank, so more newbies played this great RP class.
I'm pretty sure more people are familiar with the glimmering white staff than the ankh, to be honest. So it's rare? Big deal. Small drawback for what is clearly the best evil bmg race.
TBH i think this would actually have a knock on effect of making BMGs weaker, as it would mean not everybody makes the effort to get the stave, and as such are using a lower level sanctuary. Personnally I don't think that EVERY class should have such an easily accessible form of level 50 sanctuary anyway, as casting Sanctuary at level 50 should be a perk of the classes that get it, but whilst this is the case there is no need reason why anybody would use another form, short of herbs for in-combat sanctuary.
I didn't even know the ankh existed until about 2 weeks ago.
Thanks Rilyth.

A newbie player would play a class (you are suggesting a balance fix in the name of roleplay for a single class/race combination?) for its great RP regardless of the ankh being made of silver or not.
Belive it or not, the Santuary Staff was putted in play after people said that their biggest detractor from playing meeles was wasting hours getting consumables like the vials.
I do not think that a warrior should have the same access as a Mage to santuary.
That is what happens to Drow BMG's.
Granted Drows have almost no eq restriction compared to elves, but still...
And the Santuary staff is a Joke. Level 50 santuary... come on, that is hard to dispel. There is a reason Vials are L15, so they drop when you land Dispel.
Even other Santuary staves are bellow Level 15 spells.
And the Herbs... they dont even need to flee to smoke them. What would your (general player) Berserker think if my cleric did not need to flee to commune Santuary when you punch-drop it.
