On topic... I like the idea, but for bards and clerics, with a low chance of succeeding. It would help the lowbies and not overpower the highbies.

I dunno. Kick... very few people use it right. I hear if you do it at your god's shrine at the hour of your character's creation during a lightning storm made by Aruncus' staves, and follow it up on the tick with the "detect evil" potion from Falan Dara, you'll get quite a surprise....

We already have disarm + damage...its called ironarm. If you want some crazy damaging disarm, roll a BLM.

You know, there is a skill that warriors have that is just like this - it damages the opponent and can disarm them!!! Why don't you use that instead?

Warriors are, in fact, very fine at the moment. They have exceptional melee abilities and are easy to rank and get eq with. They are capable of killing any class uncaballed - and the options go up and up as you gain access to various cabal skills.

Most players just fail to realise that its not as easy as 'get high damage weapon, bash bash bash' on a warrior. Sure, you need eq, but you also need a few smarts to really get a lot out of a warrior.

Its also a different mindest to mages/communers that many players like becaue they can 'wear down' opponents with little risk to themselves. Most melee classes are about 'kill them before they kill me.' Try going out to kill someone instead of going out to run around in circles and hope they die of old age.

'I like the idea. But maybe make it a d8. With five chances it's just a kick. And then the other three are, disarm, offhand, and shield. That seems more reasonable, and makes kick a little better without changing things to much.

I think the idea Mya is trying to get at is that kick isn't really useful in combat whatsoever once you hit pinn. I don't play melees at all, but I would imagine if you're taking the time to kick, there's something more important you could be doing.

I diagree - what can a warrior do after dirt kick to a flying caster with a norem weapon/shield? If you have a warrior lore that isn't an in combat command and you're uncaballed you can kick. It really depends on your warrior's build and strategy.

My point is that what Mya is asking for already exists on the warrior class - so its pointless to add it to kick.

I would not waste time kicking. Why lag yourself for 2 rounds when they're going to flee soon and heal? I'd be getting ready for the chase.

If he's at awful I might kick - though I do take the point. I still don't think kick should be altered though. I certainly don't think warriors need it to disarm or anything else (as I said, other skills do this).

If anything, give warriors double kick to make it more useful.

First, i dont even play warriors.

Second, the warrior skill needs the use of a shield.

And i am yet to see a warrior comming to me with a shield on his hand.

It fact excepting the arrow thing there is no reason for a warrior to ever use a shield, when they have 4 defences, or can two handed block better than shield block.

I think a necro's zombies should be able to teleport, whenever the hell they want.

Whether or not the the necro wants them to .

A quick perusal of the posted class essays, specifically regarding the kick skill:

Ranger: "Less useful ... quickly replaced."

DK: "You have better things to do."

Ninja: "Don't even bother."

Monk: "Useful ... =Master="

Cleric: "Non-essential"

Other essays don't mention the skill at all.

4-1 against. It seems that it needs to be improved in some way. How to make it better without making monks overpowered might be a valid question, though I don't play monks.

Monks rarely use it, only in two stances do I think it's actually useful, or maybe for killing mobs. Most of your fights as a monk should be you laglocking them to death.

Umm...drastically overpowered? Lets just give all casters voodoo for all spells and be done with melees forever.
