It has always bothered me that access to vuln weapons for certain races has always been in limited supply. There seems to be plenty of vuln weapons for fire giants and undeads; but what about avians, dwarves, and illithiads? Do they not have major vulns that should be able to exploited as well? I can understand the limited supply for minor vuln races such as werebeast, elves, and storm giants...but I dont think the major races should get a break. Just some food for thought.
More major vuln weapons
'True. How hard show it be to find a weapon made out of wood? Though maybe light weapons should be rarer... seeing as how theyre light. Air... something could be added to the air elementals in the canyon.
Elves. Storm Giants. Drow.
These vulns can only be hit by throwing the appropriate vuln. Otherwise, they are equipment limitations.
I am also certain that werebeasts do not have a vuln.
Illithids are vulnerable to light. So, the power staff is the only weapon I can think of that is light attack(except for a certain exotic). However, it definitely does not have any form of increased damage that I can see.
EDIT: Dwarves do have a VERY easily obtainable exotic vuln weapon in the sunken ship area. Though I do agree, it is too hard to hit the avian vuln.
Mudder's forgetting a fairly well known polearm for Light attacks...
Avian vuln is hard to hit because (at least, this is my understanding behind it) avian racial bonuses, when compared to those of dwarves or illithids, are not that extreme. Dwarves have massive hp and magic resist in exchange for a water vuln. Illithids have lightning resist, leech, cone, shock, and compared to other mage races high natural hp/mana due to decent con and great wis, and for this they get a light vuln and cannot use weapons. Fire giants get an ice vuln, in exchange for fire resist, bonuses from using fire weapons, and a flaming bash (not including the normal giant bonuses/weaknesses). Avians get to fly and have high dex. That's... about it.
Erm, I can think of an exotic, polearm, and axe that hits the avian vuln.
Erm' date=' I can think of an exotic, polearm, and axe that hits the avian vuln.[/quote']
Agreed.
I can also think of a few ice weapons (dagger, sword, mace), fire weapons(dagger, sword, mace, I know there more cant think) light weapons, (spear, staff,) Water (mace, exotics, staff, spear) I can go on.. But im irritating myself
Lots of vuln weapons,
Not to mention throwing cards, shurikens and shooting arrows for vuln.
Also weapons that are PWNZEROMG that dont need to be a vuln weapon.
I thought there was a dagger that did "splinters" damage, which was wood?

Wood vuln on storms gets canceled out by physical resist... ends up so that wood weapons hurt storms equally to a magical weapon of the same ave damage.

...Thats just embarrassing. I still can't think of what your talking about.
I'm going to roll a healer and explore. Lol.

I think he meant spear?
Quite possibly a spear. Been forever since I've had it. ![]()
There is a rather nice flail that will give a world of hurt to a dwarf that is rather easy to get, but damn me if i tell you guys what ![]()
I know a good Storm Giant vuln that's easy to come by. Even though it's a rare item, nobody really ever goes for it.
When I used to play Diablo II with my friend and had PK fights, his amazon always tooled me over. Luckily, he was on 56k so whenever we started a fight, I'd dial his house phone from my mobile and interrupt his internet signal so that I could get a cheap kill. He never knew, would come back to his corpse and complain about lag, and I'd mock him for making excuses for his 'lack of skill'.
Transferring that to FL, think outside the box. These races that have no vulns or hard to hit vulns, actually have plenty. The question is, are you prepared to go to extreme lengths to exploit them? Find out their details, their address, and just organise for somebody to call at their house. When they go AFK to answer the door, you strike! Vuln exploited.
It's all about having the right preparations and equipment - in-game and outside of the game. FL is life.

You freak me out a little.

All elemental giants can be hit by a single weapon, a pitty you need to be a certain race to use it. ![]()
Also you have the "special exotic" that hits vulns.
Dwarves can be fought on water to better odds, and Ilithiads get burned by a good cleric.
I find the light staff vs Ilithiads a bad idea. As it can be disarmed and you are now in trouble.
I hate you all - now I want my illithid necro back....

ICE: mace, staff, dagger, sword, polearm
FIRE: I think there is a fire for every weapon
LIGHT: exotic, staff
HOLY: exotic, dagger
AIR: polearm, exotic, axe, mace
WATER: Exotic, spear, staff
And alot of those vulns are not rare sockets.
Given cabal choice you could get any vuln, and with another you could cover 2 vulns and have it as any weapon class.
RE: Pali, it is definately a spear. I definately used it for quite some time on Lmathr
