Hand to Hand

A while ago I proposed taking hand to hand away from blademasters, it was kind of a joke but then it hit me. Why not grade the H2H skill depending on the class.

Monks should get like 105 naturally. (Way easier for good monks to boost H2H)

Ninjas could get 100 and maybe a new lore involving hand to hand.

Warriors, Rangers, Thieves, Bards, Berserkers, Paladins, DKs, and Clerics could get 100.

Invokers, Necromancers, Battlemages, Shamans, Healers, and druids could maybe max out at 75 or 80.

Blademasters shouldnt have hand to hand beyond 75.

I dont know the code all that well so this might be numerically drastic, consider the idea asuming it would be balanced.

Then I got to thinking why stop there?

Shouldnt every class have an inate dodging ability? Maybe 50% or less depending on dex and class for those who dont have the skill. Dodge could also be graded class by class.

Anyway, if you have any other ideas please contribute.

Great concept but I don't exactly agree with the numbers you put out.

Slop this into the pile of good things to code, right after my EQ rebalancing idea and ninja title corrections (I am really getting tired of seeing things like Menkyo running around (xx the license)... )

But don't hold your breath...

I could see a faerie being a little bit better at dodging than an ogre....

For me this is a bad idea.

A Blademaster with lowered Hand to hand would be worse versus all the creatures they fight.

The lower of Hand to Hand of blademaster comes from the idea of making Monks stronger versus Blademasters.

This should be corrected on the Monks side, not the blademasters side. As it was done with the improved dragon stance.

Giving a % in dodge is not that good. As it shifts to much of the class balance.

Dex is already factored in combat by the code.

This higher ability of Dextruous races is already implemented by the increased AC. That allows you some bonus.

He's not saying dex should be factored in more, he's saying size should be factored in more. As I'm not familiar with the code, I really don't have a basis for commenting either way... though, I do agree that overall, a smaller race should be somewhat harder to hit than a large one for that specific reason, not just for how quickly they can move.

Monks were changed a long time ago to get more than 100% natural prof with h2h. Perhaps you need to play one....

I don't agree with grading h2h on class - either take it or not from blms, but leave the other classes alone.

Monks just got a tone up and we've had a couple who were seriously able to compete. Whether they are the 'gimps' of FL classes anymore I couldn't say (haven't played one) but I don't think they are as underpowered as they used to be....
