NEWtral qclass

Here is my idea.

Zealot

Race: Human, Gnome, Avian, Slith, Werebeast, Minotaur, Half-elf.

Class: Warrior, Berserker, Ninja, Blademaster, Ranger.

Align: Neutral

Ethos: Chaotic

Religion: Neutral

Level:50/remort

Zealots are the true warriors of Balance. Serving the neutral church in an effort to crush the good and evil extremists which run rampant in the lands. Only the most devout neutrals can enter Zealot training and are expected to do their duty with a zeal that matches the most persistent goods or evils. Being warriors of Balance no Zealot should harm another neutral unless provoked. Because of their never ending hunt for good and evil the Zealot could not be bothered with any Cabal affairs.

Minor Chants

Syntax chant

Each Minor Chant lasts a quarter of a day. Only one Minor Chant can be used at a time. A Zealot may choose 3 of the following 6 chants.

-Chant of Accuracy - Increases Dex and Hitroll.

-Chant of Power - Increases Str and Damroll.

-Chant of the Lion - Increases Con, HP and hitgain.

-Chant of the Mage - Increases Int, Wis, Mana and managain.

-Chant of the Stallion - Increases Moves, Movegain, and charge proficiency.

-Chant of Iron Will - Increases saves vs Mal and Aff

Zealous Shield

Syntax zshield ‘good’ or ‘evil’

The Zealot can pray for protection from good or evil for a day, however while protected from one extreme the Zealot is vulnerable to the other.

Adrenaline Rush

Syntax adrenaline

Being such ferocious and adament warriors, the Zealot can surge himself with an adrenaline rush which will restore and divide an amount of hp, mana and moves depending on rank and need. Example: a lvl 50 adrenaline rush will heal 500 points divided %wise as needed among hp/mana/moves. This skill of course cannot be used more than once a day.

Major Chants

Syntax chant

Each Major Chant lasts a half day. Only one Major Chant can be used at a time. A zealot may choose 2 of the following 4 chants.

-Chant of the Giant - Increases size by 1 and lowers dex by 4

-Chant of the Magebane - Grants resistance to magic at the cost of physical vulnerability.

-Chant of the Stone Wall - Grants Physical resistance and lowers armor class at the cost of magical vulnerability.

-Chant of the Unseen - Grants affect of sneak as well as removing the zealot from the enemies "where" vision.

Resilience

Syntax resilience

Being so focused and driven, a Zealot can enter a resilient state of mind by chanting his mantra over and over. When in this state the Zealot increases his mental saves significantly.

Flurry

Syntax flurry

While a Zealot is dual wielding and affected by flurry he will strike with a bit

less power but will hit more often, up to five times with each hand. Untill the affects of flurry have subsided the Zealot will not be able to parry or dual parry.

Shield Smash

Syntax shieldsmash

Using a shield, the bigger the better, a Zealot can drive it into his enemies body causing them to be stunned. Protective shields will stop the blow.

Weapon Expertise

Zealots are encouraged to choose one weapon and make it their favorite. Along with this choice comes a tactic with the selected weapon.

Axe: The ability to cleave, weapons or shields.

Mace: A concussing head blow that can drop protective shields.

Spear: Learn to craft spears and put them in the quiver to throw.

Sword: A slash to the enemy hamstrings causing serious enfeeblement.

Dagger: A slice to enemy arm tendons hindering their offense and defense.

Polearm: A ramming blow to the chest will push enemies into a wall or another room.

Chant of Balance

The Zealot who has reached his peak can define his methods by choosing one Chant of Balance. Each chant will last a full day but can not be used again before the negative side affects have worn off.

Heart Chant

When a zealot chants from the heart he will fill himself with courage and strength becoming so strongly willed that it is as if he were affected by sanctuary. Once the chant fades the Zealot will recoil in his weaker state and find he is afraid to fight, being calmed for 8 hours.

Brain Chant

When a Zealot chants from the brain he will find himself more alert than ever before. The zealot will not be able to sleep by natural or unnatural means for the duration of the chant. The focus of the brain is so strong the Zealot will also heal more rapidly than he normally would awake, but when the chant fades the Zealot will be drained for 8 hours from his lack of sleep.

Body Chant

When a Zealot chants from his entire body he will find himself in complete control of his movements. From the smallest trip to the heaviest body slam the Zealot will be able to recover immediately and continue the fight. Once the chant fades however the Zealot will feel slow and flimsy lowering his strength and dexterity by 8 for 8 hours.

At first glance the Zealot might seem overpowered but for a lot of the pros there are cons, and of course chanting would take a bit of time too. Also, not really fitting in any cabal means the Zealot can never be stronger than it is right here.

Wow... I have to say you have put in a bit of thought into this..

I can see a few power spikes but you know, it looks pretty solid. Like a warrior that can prepare for every situation making them strong but vulnerable to others. Very very nice.

Hrmmm I'll read it a couple more times then give some feedback.. But it looks good.

EDIT

All im going to say is let me +1 size, increase hit, drop prot shield and shield lock

That route would be ok vs a c/c or a small melee. But shield smash isnt meant to be quite as good as bodyslam or bash. That also means you are using a mace/shield which only equals 3 attacks max per round.

I like spear or polearm myself.

Spear giving you the abilty to craft vuln spears out of rares that work like fired weapons from your quiver, though they are thrown every other round or shot (room range one) without a bow. Letting you have a floaty too.

Polearm is cool too, would be like ninja push but without the stumbling on miss effect. Also nice with the +1 size.

Yeah... Quite a range of possible things..

Personally I would probably go polearm or sword for defense/offense capabilities.. Hrmm.

I must say it looks impressive! I do have to mention that it does seem too similiar to the blademaster class.... I think a few unique changes would make it perfect

the unseen thing with a ninja? seems overpowered. eh.... ill roll one up

NEUTRAL

Neutrals derive their name from the fact that their behavior is marked by

neither philanthropy nor malice, or perhaps both in equal proportions.

Although some may choose to engage in violence as part of their chosen

profession, no one who is truly neutral would have the callous disregard

for others to murder without a clear justification for the killing.

Neutrals who kill excessively without reason, or for reasons considered

purely selfish or malicious, will be turned to the path of Darkness.

Because they are servants of neither the Gods of Light or the Gods of

Darkness, neutrals are more free from bias in their adherence to their

ethos.

Chaotic Neutral:

The alignment of gamblers and rogues, chaotic neutrals serve only their

whims and strive to live life to its fullest. Random chance and Lady

Luck are what guide their lives, as they realize that they have little

control over the world outside of their own selves. Existing systems

which tell them what they can and cannot do are their natural enemies,

and they are often branded troublemakers by authorities. Although they

lead relatively carefree lives, they are watched closely by the Dark

Gods, for should their whims grow cruel or their professions grow overly

bloodthirsty, their hearts will be turned to evil.

I fail to see an RP basis for this class.

The skillset looks kind of neat, even with the previously noted similarity to blademasters, but other than for the sake of creating a neutral remort qclass, I can't see any reason for it.

I dont really see how it is all that similar to blm's but anyway... It is more like a mix of blm, warrior, druid, and crusader. And of course the skills/chants are just ideas. It is more the rp behind this qrace that interests me.

Your point is exactly why I thought of this class. Untill now it seems neutrals are not really interested in anything but themselves, and cabal stuff. But it makes sense to me that somewhere there is a chaotic neutral who believes that both good and evil are too extreme each in their own right. It is almost like an avatar of neutral...Anyway, the closest things to neutral avatars at this point are druids and stalkers, but both of the mentioned are really only geared towards destroying the unliving or the extra living...

I guess my point is that it could be reasonable rp to go after more than just undeads and avatars when there is more to good and evil than the qclasses.

It is because of the spirit of good and evil that such entities are created and a chaotic neutral who wishes to maintain balance (ie not allow goods or evils to become too powerful) makes rp sense. And yes, it would be cool to have a neutral only remort class.

re:bobcat, the ninja would remort into a zealot, so the unseen chant is not going to give you easy assassinates

If you are zealous, you are not neutral. It doesn't mix.

I'm with Bali on this one. A neutral with the single purpose to kill good and evil is just wrong in my eyes. Then again, we have the watcher stalkers, but I'm still sceptic to this.

Otherwise it looks well thought out.

Stalkers are different, they are killing unnatural beings.

Stalkers are different' date=' they are killing unnatural beings.[/quote']

no ****?

I was just drawing a parallell, doh.

I still think there is potential for a fanatic neutral, though maybe not the way I presented it. ponder

uhm, you can be zealous for just about anything, even nothing at all, which is true neutrality

Fanatic neutral, fine. Zealous, no. "You have committed to many good deeds, so you must die". No f***ing way! Not even close. If you have a zeal against goodies, just for them being "too good", then you are definitly not neutral. You are evil. Wicked evil.

Well, maybe the name isn't good, but an 'avatar of balance' sounds pretty good. I like them, but it seems like the skill set is pretty small. This would lead to lots of extra pracs/trains. Maybe add a few more chant choices or some spell/skill stuff.

edit: maybe going with the crusader idea of keeping class skills for being zerk/warrior/etc.

an 'avatar of balance' sounds pretty good.

An avatar of balance is a paradox, since killing people because they are good is an evil act, hence they are evil themselves, so they should kill... Themselves, for being evil. Sorry, it is a well worked out idea, with cool chants and so, but the standard RP of the class contradicts itself.

After a little thought, I came up with a way this might be feasible, RPwise:

The Zealot class is not a zealot of neutrality, but rather an Avatar of the Balance.

Make it a qrace, for starters. Then give the zealot an allotment of powers (for the sake of discussion, we'll say six).

They go in progression, 1-> 2 -> 3 (good) and 1-> 2 -> 3 (evil) in power, 1 being the least powerful, 3 being the most. A zealot can always use their base power, which is passive - however, a good power cannot be in effect when an evil power is, and vice versa. It is a protection from one alignment, that provides the same ward as the "protection spell", and increases the damage the zealot does to anyone of that alignment. However, it also increases the damage taken and decreases the damage done to the opposite alignment.

Then they have an ability called "Sight of the Zealot", or some such that, when activated, grants the person a who-list based detect evil/detect good. Perhaps highlight goodies in blue, and evils in red.

When a Zealot kills a good character, he gets one "good point" and loses one "evil point". When he kills an evil, he gains one "evil point" and loses one "good point". If he kills a neutral, he gains one point in each. The Zealot's goal is to keep his points both of his points under 5. When they step out of those bounds, they lose that alignments powers, until they kill enough of the opposite alignment to re-enter the "safe zone". A zealot's points can only go as low as zero - if they have zero good points and zero evil points, and kill a good, they would have one good point and zero evil points (not -1).

When the zealot uses his abilities, he must have that ability's level worth in points under the requirement. (couldn't think of a better way to word this)

IE - To use his level three good power, he must have 2 or less good points. To use his level two good power, he must have 3 or less good points.

Should the zealot kill enough neutrals that he is at or above 5 points in each category, he must use the ability "Zealot Chant". This ability renders the zealot incapacitated for 24 hours, and leaves them unable to use their powers for 72 additional hours. It can only be performed in the Shrines of Balance or Neutrality. The ability reduces the Zealot's points in both areas back to 0.

I think that's all I have right now - but I'd actually like to develop this idea further.

Thats actually pretty cool, I'd play one!

You must of read this wrong - this thread isnt about blademasters
