Encouraging PK/Activity

  • A good example springs to mind. Back when I had Dulanain messalantha attacked me in a ranking group when I was about rank 44.. By some miracle she died and got full looted. (she ran in without sanc.. Shrug) Equipment isnt the be all and end all. Albeit that was the only time one of my characters ever killed messa' date=' the point is it can happen to any one of us, even the best.[/quote']

Actually I run in and attacked WITH sanc and flight but (I think it was) Bickles, an invoker (?) dispelled me (Sanc AND flight) and I got lagged to hell while taking invoker damage

Attacked the group, got the group, all fine with me.

I've been killed fully decked numerous times, it WILL happen and if it's some dolt of an Assassin. (This happened three times to me so far. Mutter.)

As to reducing the number of rares, I'm not for it. It would unbalance the game even more in favor of communers/mages.

I think being afraid to die is a stage every one of us runs through in our pk careers. You will get over it IF you want to get better. Sometimes I've gone into battles being 90% sure I WILL die. (Part of being in a cabal.)

Yeah and I gave you all your eq back..

Hrmmm............ How sad was that... Should of taken it and been mega decked pre-pinn muwahaha.

If you want to limit/restrict get more rares back in circulation the simplest thing to do is add back in the level check. Lvl 50 rares shouldnt be held by others who are not rank 50, and this is where alot of equipment is, in the late 30's early 40's.

I also think PK would be hella more fun if everyone wore red dragon and mithril, while only giants got enhanced damage:)

Classes with good survivability should be zapped by the uniques and uber rares I'll let someone else come up with the RP reason

I think there should be an 10 (lvl 60 items anyone?) level variance though. If I kill that lvl 50 as a lvl 42...you're damned right I should get his stuff.

I'm all for a limit around lvl 30 or so.

What I think, which in my head makes sense, is have the melee's get a little boost from equipment. After all they are masteres of weapons and such, also if you read the help file of harden defense it states as example of warriors weilding a stick and being 'monsters' with it. So having melee's (pure melee) getting a small bonus from eq would make sense in a Rp point of veiw after all they are people that makes use of weapons and armors to their advatange.

If anyone already said this sorry just read the last one and did read all the other posts.

i've been thinking for months now that what they really need to do is completely open the floodgates on equipment. especially crap rares, even those are utterly ridiculous these days.

OPEN THE FLOODGATES!

Just bring back svs.

There used to be ways to compete without a mass of rares vs ppl who had rares. Somewhere along the line everyone got too good at getting the 'super' powerful rares.

IMHO, this is the real problem. Too many players can get access to rares that are far, far, far too powerful in light of much of the other equipment.

Someone else said this but I will second it - the solution is to:

  1. Make rares less powerful or

  2. Make non-rare more powerful.

Personally, I'd like to see 2) as its a lot more fun to be able to grab a set of non rares and go and fight than having to trek around for rares.

PS - to all those players who keep posting ' I don't have time to read replies' etc - don't bother posting your reply. If you don't have time to read what has been said then your contribution is less than meaningful and, IMHO, worthless.

To say it another way:

Your rudeness is surpassed only by your rudeness.

Although I didn't have time to read everyone's post, I saw this and I agree with it wholeheartedly.

I'm really liking other people's solutions. Good to see.

While I agree with the second part of the post, the first part is....well...painful. Think of how hard it would be to get pinned when your wearing red dragon or mithril and the warrior pinn is wearing a full ******* set.

That's laughable - since I almost always rank to lvl 50 in red dragon/tainted. Not to mention that a warrior with rank on you in good eq will kick the living hell out of you no matter if you do or do not have rares due to rank advantage affecting the way you defend (or in this case, will not defend) their melee attacks.

Whores of Babylon.

PK isn't the problem, it never is.

The problem is that people get so frustrated with RP that they get sinister, jaded, and grow up wrong.

47% of the Pbase has this history. When they get to the point that they realize, like most of those that came before did, that they have a choice. They chose wrong. They wanted to feel that little bit of power. It continued. Every generation becoming more petty and arrogant than the last.

Balinor is the case study. His rage consumed him. He'll admit it, same way I did. Dey's going the same way. Everything old is new again.

People used to have dialogue.
