Locked Wimpy

As it is right now, it's too easy to escape someone who is chasing with murder using a high wimpy (IMO), as the chased would automatically flee after the first hit.

My suggestion is to make it so that when someone uses murder on you, your wimpy won't kick in until the end of the round. This will gimp healers, shamans and clerics a bit, which I don't think is a bad thing

Well, a "murder" command SHOULD imply attacking for a full round. That's my view.

Yeah, this was might thought. Wimpy can either be a blessing or a nightmare. Blessing for when you lose link and you were fighting a few MOBs that wont chase if you flee and you hit the wimpy mark, nightmare if you end up fleeing from your enemy into a big nasty mob and then flee right back into them over and over again until one of them pops you. I usually keep mine at 0 now though.

I agree with this change. I also think wimpy shouldn't let you avoid let you flee from lag attacks. If you take the time to time a mages prot shield falling and laglock, they shouldn't be able to just wimpy flee as soon as their health gets below 50%.

I didn't know that was the case, that wimpy lets you flee from lag attacks. I agree with you, definitely think that shouldn't happen, at all...

yeah, wimpy shouldn't let you flee earlier than if you typed in the command for it manually.

Wimpy isnt a special flee, its an single automatic flee call from the code that can fail as much as the real flee command. When your hp hits a certon amount all it does is calls an automatic flee so that you do not die, if it waited till the end of the round you might as well take it out of the code because it would be useless. It also shouldnt be fleeing you out of combat if you are lagged, if it is then thats a bug, log it and send it to the immortals, they will send it to thier respective coders.

I'm not sure if it saved me from a lag lock or not as Corinkorth missed his second throw and I hadn't typed flee yet, but I know it saved me from a three round death when he tried killing my Thief. Other than that though, I haven't ever had someone try to lag lock me completely, then again I haven't seen too many Warrior types about. I did get lag locked by one person though, can't recall if I had my wimpy set high or not though, just remember using a gate, coming through with my standard, and next thing I'm hit and hit hard and repeatedly. I haven't bothered with setting wimpy though since I got trapped between a Tribunal and his Guard and ping ponging back and forth for a short stint before being captured. I had a better chance at just quaffing a recall and getting the hell out of there that way than trying to rely on Wimpy.

If thats the case, im gonna run around with 50% wimpy just to be sure I dont get lag locked...

Why do you think communers who let prot shield drop vs melee's survive these days? The flee on the next damage ie a bash and then wimpy helps them flee every time while you hit a decimate each time.

I don't know if its 100% on the lag attacks, but its almost 100% effective when they you chase someone with murder - they flee on your first landed shot.

I think it was said somewhere before but I will reiterate.

  1. If you get bashed and you flee from wimpy, yes you are out of combat, but still lagged. They should have time to follow and re-engage.

  2. It is still BS because those two rounds the basher is lagged and you had fled, they are not hitting you. If it is still the case, it is a definite bug.

I was recently told by the IMMs, that mid round flees is how wimpy is supposed to be. I suggest this to be changed. My argument is that there should be no automated command that cuts rounds and spells in half. Fleeing from the arrow hit on a murder round and avoiding the next possible 7-8 attacks from a warrior seems a bit unfair to me.

You stand at an intersection of two roads along the northern edge

of Miruvhor. To the west and south, tall buildings of red brick tower above

the city, covering the horizon. To the east, the structures are much smaller

in size, most probably housing the less wealthy citizens. To the north lies

a sea of hot desert, stretching as far as the eye can see. Many travelers pass

through this section of the city, most of them frequenting the nearby shops

just to your south.

Southern Tetsunai Road

To your west lies the great defensive stone wall of Miruvhor, while

to the east runs a long line of impressive structures of red brick. In

fact, this entire road seems to be the wealthiest part of the city. Nobles

walk to-and-fro at a very leisurely pace. The structure directly to your east,

however, is slightly different from the rest. Hanging over a large open double

door is a simple wagon wheel. From within comes the sounds of whickering

and snorting. Every so often a loud crack echoes out.

Appearing newly erected, a massive drawbridge sturdily lies across a

glimmering moat. On the other side of the drawbridge is an iron portcullis

that seems to have been crafted just as recently, as it is free of rust and

tarnish. Wagons and carts containing assortments of goods are being hauled

in and out of the city here. To the south, you can make out what appears to

be the beginnings of a commonly traveled path through the forests.

The irritating part of wimpy is it makes PK automatic and not skill. Mid round fleeing is ridiculous as well.

 

Assuming wimpy will not be removed or changed to stop these strategies of putting your wimpy as high as you can and just fleeing all around the game while you try to land certain skills/spells, then make the flee from wimpy have a higher lag. You want instantly out of combat with an automated feature of the game? Then you can have a higher lag because of it.

Man if that's not sketch I don't know what is, and I haven't even felt the sting of a wimpy fleeing enemy lately.

You could always lag them to prevent it entirely, wait till prot shield or flight drops and it game over

espeially doing multiple lacerates per round.

 

Its also a part of his strategy, if you murder him while he is blinded he could take up to 8 unanswered

attacks from a dual wielding warrior. If your opponent is wimping out from the arrow shot then remove the arrows,

wimpy saves those classes without blind fighting and i dont think it should be modified.
