Has anyone here ever thought about mounted combat? Where as, if your mounted the mount actually does a little something. For example:
When your mounted on lets say an elephant, and you rush that elephant into battle, shouldnt there be a slight chance the elephant runs into or even steps on your opponent IF they are NOT mounted? If you were mounted, you would haul back on the reigns, direct your steed around and shouldnt there be a possibility that someone gets some dust in thier eyes?
Mabey this could be a new skill everyone gets at rank 35? Mabey a KNIGHT skill for inductees?
Thoughts?

Don't Paladin's get something similar with their goliath?
I haven't played a paladin since like... 1.0, though, and haven't fought one who used it (atleast not that I noticed).
From what I 'remember' about pali's, they get a charge bonus while on thier goliath and it got 'called' mounted combat, but im actually talking about the mount having some small effects in battle with either a little damage or just some emotes for flavor without upsetting balance, especially if everyone can do it.

Kind of, there's a bonus to charge on Goliath that changes the phrasing slightly for it, I think.
Just a note, mounted combat does a lot more than just the charge.
I wasn't talking about mounted combat changing the charge, but only Goliath changing it.
Ok, i never noticed a difference between a Goliath charge and a Elephant charge. With elephant having a advantage in PK.
Mounted combat does a LOT more than the charge thing.
And i have mounted charged people twice in row, getting both times the damage message.
Of course i also have a DK dirt a mob for more than 1 tick. Which should be impossible.
I actually think mounted combat should not only be with paladins but the whole KNIGHT cabal. As for mounts doing things in battle for everyone thats a little hard to swallow. Example Ninja rolls in on top of a Wolly Mammoth, Warrior rolls in on a Warhorse, So what your saying is the Mammoth would use his huge ivory tusks and trample the warhorse knocking the warrior off the horse because the Mammoth trumps just about all mounts in size and strength.
You need to throw out more ideas with your idea...
If you give knights mounted combat, what would paladins get ?
After all, it is the staple skill of the class. Along with Wrath.
It's like giving Warmasters, bash for thieves.
Vote Flails and Kick for Pal's.
Actually, I think the Warmaster Cabal should be the ones who get mounted combat.
I vote Storm Paladins.
Storms can be warriors, clerics, and crusaders. Why not Paladins?
Are paladins gimps or something? I don't think they need anything.
I vote Mino Paladins. Sure, they'd have to be neutral... but DANG! I owuld LOVE a mounted charging mino!
W00t!

No they are fine - some players just can't work out how to get the power out of them.
Others can - look at Pamiyn.

If you gave the Knight Cabal some kind of mounted fighting bonus paladins would not be affected. Plus when I think of a Knight I think of medievil times on horseback, with fighting in all kinds of weapons and such, along with jousting. So then maybe mounted bonus for Praetorians only, in any case it was only a suggestion.

I still want flails and kick.
Paladins do not need kick/flail whatsoever IMO. Paladins have a great offensive output whilst having great defensive/curative ability. The beauty of the class is that against different race/classes/players you either go straight offensive, straight defensive, or a mixture of both depending on all manner of factors. Invoker, for example, can make it so that a Paladin is relying on melee damage to harm them. The balancing aspect here is that Paladins can cure, so the Paladin is constantly on the defensive, relying on melee and attrition. On the opposite end of the spectrum, put a Paladin against a cleric and you can go flat out offensive and overpower them with damage faster than they can to you.
Give Paladins flail and kick, and you're overpowering them slightly by giving them an extra offensive edge against classes that a Paladin beats through attrition and not through raw offensive power.
Mounted combat is awesome, by the way.

Not as awesome as those Magnum P.I. sunglasses in that avatar pic ;P
Here i go again.
Paladins have 4 weapons:
-
Polearms
-
Swords
-
Mace
-
Staff
Polearms and staves are defensive weapons you cannot dual wield.
Swords and Maces are the weapons they can dual wield.
With swords being known by most classes, leaving only maces as an unknown weapon.
The problem is that most good maces in game are two handed. With almost all 1 handed maces being non magical and not that good.
The only 1 handed magical mace a paladin can wield that i know is the asp king sceptre.
But i can quote 18 damage magic flail/whips from my head with ease.
Clerics/DK's can get one of these with ease but a Paladin cannot.
So can you quote a mace to dual wield ?
Kick:
Ever fought a Cleric with spell shield up.
Dispel evil on a cleric is a waste, as when it falls, they will just recast it.
Kick would solve this and alow Paladins to do some extra damage while saving mana for healing.
