I've always toyed with the idea of having a completely customizable mage class, in which you could select a select number of tiered skills from a series of trees, IE:
Physical - Defense, Greater Defense, Superior Defense
Arcana - Arcane, Greater Arcane, Superior Arcane
And so on and so forth. This is a really basic example, but concept is that by the time you reach level 50, you will have a significantly different "build" than anyone of the same class. But for example, you would have to have defense to take greater defense, and greater defense to take superior defense.
There would be a lot more selections, but I don't know how far the idea would go, and unlike when I came up with Chaos Mages, I don't have the free time to sit there and watch Pali shoot down my ideas.
