Spell components for Casters.

Useless when fighting c/c's that are casting/communing at higher than lvl 50. Reason being is that the sanctuary from vials are usually the first to go' date=' while the sanctuary given by other items would be a bit harder to dispel because their lvl is higher. When fighting classes without dispel magic though vials work a lot better since it'll fall naturally assuming they have no way to knock it off. Sparkling pills are better in some cases though since they're consumable and you can eat one of those if not too full if it does get dispelled. Vials have the risk of being spilled while quaffing in battle.[/quote']

This is why you flee, quaff another, and return. Or why you get decent mental saves. I find vials to be useful at every level, not just the lower ones.

If I'm fighting any kind of dispel happy mage that isn't a bmage then I'm laughing as he casts dispel while I beat his brains out

Just don't lag yourself to death...

Dispel's just as potent a weapon for any invoker/necro as well... dispel then drop an annihilate before the next round of combat happens, or dispel and drop sanc/prot shield for zombies to bash your brains out...

If it's me, if I had a choice between no sanc and a vial, I'd go with the vial. If however I have a few higher lvl sanc items on me, I'd go the higher lvl any time. There's not really a whole lot of mental saves items compared to say mal save items out there, so while you can get upwards of -120 or so mal saves you're looking at -75ish tops if you can find the gear for it and it's in. That and as a melee you have a choice between saves gear and hit/dam, you end up making your battles long and drawn out by going the saves route if you're wanting to protect yourself from all three categories, otherwise you swith out a couple pieces of armor at the loss of rare slots that could be your weapons that you change to when fighting classes that don't know various weapons. Then if you have a mental vuln it just makes you have to find more saves to cover it more, IE: Gnomes. Yeah, granted I haven't played anything more than three classes fully since coming back and none of which are Gnomes, but I recall before leaving the last time even with -50 saves vs. mental that Gnomes got reamed when it came to mental spells. I just prefer a higher lvl sanc so that it's harder to dispel than the others, as I've had to flee in the past and return because someone kept dispelling my sanc. And after 10-15 times it gets old and you might as well run off to fight another day because by then a third of your sanc supplies is probably gone.

I have to agree with you there Tantangel. Such a situation makes playing a warrior so frustrating. It's the vial/potion collecting that really gets to me. It is 0 fun and a complete chore, I'm sure most agree.

What annoys me most about the three items I brought up, even though the first two pose a challenge and have few charges in comparison one of them has 10 times the charges of lvl 50 sanctuary of one of the items which you can only use if you've got the staves skill. Not sure if that's giving away too much info about it, but said item is ridiculously easy to get compared to the other two for that many more charges. I say up the other two charges by 5 or drop this one by 20 charges as it's a bit much and the only way to get it away from them is by killing them and taking it assuming they aren't in a Cabal and don't have life insurance, or a thief steals it assuming it's not nodrop. Not sure if the item has been changed in 4 years or what, but that was the last time I ever got it, but it was way too much then, more than enough now.

If you're referring to a certain quest-obtained item that grants sanc, no, it is not nodrop. It's also impossible to get another of them, or to redo the quest for any of the other nice eq that it can grant.

I know you can only get it once. With the amount of people who can get it though, it wouldn't be too hard to have someone get it for you at a price if you lose yours. It's far overkill IMO, and the people who know about it probably enjoy it if they can use it, but the people who know about it and can't use it know for a fact it's overkill like various other things are for people, similar to how that one cure item has so many charges and it weighs a ton is overkill. I'm not saying get rid of them, just drop the charges on it or up the charges on the others since it's so easy to get for anyone over lvl 20.
