Rescue

As it is, it kinda screws over the guy someone's trying to rescue, and on a few of my characters, has caused my death. I know, in the case of rangers, necros, or anyone with pets in general, it would be way too powerful to have them be able to rescue constantly.

I would really like for it to change, but I'm stumped on suggestions for change on it.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Remove the lag it gives anyone being rescued if it fails, keep the lag if it works. Always lag the person trying to rescue.

Mayyybe?

I say if it's a warrior/paladin rescue on a PC, remove the lag it gives to the PC being rescued no matter what. I've had the same problem where people rescued me and I was being attacked by 3+ mobs all dealing out damage that I'd be able to survive by healing myself but instead died because some moron decided that I needed to be rescued. It's another issue entirely though when someone is ordering something to rescue them because they want to be rescued and thus should be lagged because of it, but if you don't want to be why should you suffer the lag because someone was an idiot and instead of letting you flee which is safer a lot of the time ended up 'rescuing' you and thus leading to your death anyways.

Seconded for Tantangle, that bloody happens alot, I hatessss it yes we does.

Stop playing healers you damn pansies.

I haven't played a Healer in over 2 years bastard. :-P I still think it a crock that people feel the need to rescue you though. Rescue has to be the most useless skill ever for the very reason that it lags the 'rescued' and could possibly kill a person because usually they don't rescue you until you're way low on health anyways and 2 rounds lagged is death to mages who run out of sanc and various other spells. I recall one time on an Invoker I was rescued after my sanc and protective shield fell and then two more mobs came in and started pounding on me while I had word of recall punched in. If it hadn't been for the rescue I would've lived. I never even bothered practicing it as a warrior because I didn't care for it and a Paladin I only practiced it for more RP reasons than anything else.

Well, when my characters rescue, it's usually when said physically weak character starts getting pummelled...not after they've been getting spanked by the mobs.

Yea, i've had idiots rescue me and its annoying being lagged, kinda screws you over but I don't know. I have no opinion on it really.

Rescue is very useful when you're fighting one mob (or multiple mobs, with just one fighting the tank) and the tank is near death and can't flee, or is being lagged by bashes/trips/bodyslams and so on.

The problem isn't with rescue, it's with people not using it properly, such as rescuing someone who is fighting a group and lagging them, making them die. Maybe an option to toggle if you can be rescued or not in combat (autorescue or something) that can be turned off if you want, so you can't be rescued - maybe not ideal, as there are times you will want to be rescued in combat and times when you don't.

The idea of not having any lag for the person being rescued if rescue fails is already there. The person being rescued/person rescuing are lagged if the rescue works. If rescue fails, only the person rescuing is lagged.

Problem is, anyone can rescue with pets. So why should people who don't want to be rescued get penalized for being rescued? Like Deykari said, maybe an autorescue would be nice so we don't have to deal with that sort of thing and it could be coded in so that those who try to rescue the people who don't want rescued wont be lagged, similar to tripping someone who flies.

This isn't true. If a rescue fails, both the person rescued and the rescuer are lagged. Thus the complaint.

How else can a goodie kill another goodie and not get any form of penalty?

I say keep it the way it is. So next time that Healer pisses off my Paladin I can get rid of him the easy way and all the while claim I was trying to save him!
