Improved Dodge -

When the first shapeshifters banded together, they had a realization that they were vastly outmatched by the weapon-fighters of the lands, due to the fact that they could not use weaponry to parry attacks in their spiritual forms. As a result, they resolved to train hard and become better at dodging attacks.

Spiritual Essence -

A young shapeshifter may call on the most primal forces of nature to enhance their combat abilities. This essence is known to take root in the life force of the shapeshifter, and thereby as the caller increases in power, so does the essence. (Similar to Warcry, except also grants AC bonus)

Shapeshift-

A shapeshifter may (obviously) transform their body into the shapes of a number of Gaia's creatures. As the shapeshifter grows stronger, Gaia permits stronger spirits to help the shifter, allowing them to transform into more powerful creatures. Each spirit also grants the shifter a variety of abilities while they are in that spirit's form.

Ram- (Affected by +hit)

Headbutt: Temporarily stuns an opponent

Charge: Charges at an opponent, possibly even flinging them into the air with the ram's horns. (Must be mastered to give extra charge)

Great Stamina (passive): Gives the shifter a movement bonus due to its ability to easily cross treacherous terrain.

Bear- (Affected by +dam)

Maul: Attacks an opponent, causing great damage. (Damage increases somewhat with proficiency).

Flurry: Attacks with a flash of teeth and claws, causing moderate damage and potentially causing substantial blood loss.

Great Health (passive): Gives the shifter a substantial boost to health due to the bear's great stamina.

Snake- (Affected by Detect Hidden)

Venom Spit: Allows the snake to spit venom at its opponent, causing damage, and potentially having acid-like effects. (Possible to blind OR faerie fire OR burn for extra damage)

Constrict: Surprise attack, wrapping around the opponent's neck to cut off their air supply and render them unconscious.

Hiss: Hisses at an opponent causing fear-like effects.

Great Mobility (passive): Gives the shifter a substantial boost to dexterity, allowing them to avoid melee attacks, particularly heavy physical attacks like bash and bodyslam.

Wolf- (Affected by Haste)

Tackle: Allows the wolf to tackle their opponent to the ground, causing damage and lag.

Throat Rip: The wolf lunges at their foe's throat, causing heavy damage, heavy bleeding, and potentially silencing their foe.

Great Agility (passive): Gives the shifter supreme speed, causing them to hit their foe many more times than a regular opponent.

Enhanced Dodge -

The greatest of shapeshifters are so at one with their spiritual forms, that it is nigh impossible for a mere mortal to strike them with a weapon. Able to dodge all but the best aimed blows, the most powerful shapeshifters are a match for even the best trained fighters of the lands.

Elephant- (Affected by size +1)

Trample: Attacks the foe with all the bulk known to an elephant, knocking them to the ground and then grinding them into the dust.

Trunk Grab: Allows a shifter to snatch a foe's weapon out of their hand and toss it aside.

Shoot Water: When they are near a source of water, a shifter can dip their trunk in and shoot water at their foe, causing damage.

Great Size (passive): Thundering through the area, a powerful shapeshifter can transform into a huge elephant, increasing their size and their strength to unimaginable proportions.

Spiritual Growth -

A master of shapeshifting is able to unlock the greatest potential of all spirit forms, finding in every form an ability that less potent shapeshifters cannot activate.

Lion- (Affected by +hit & +dam)

Claw: Attacks the foe with a powerful swipe of their claws, rending flesh from bone and doing great damage.

Pounce: Pounces on top the foe, stunning them and swiping at their face several times in quick succesion, doing reduced damage and causing lag.

Bite: Locks the lion's teeth around an arm or a leg, causing weakening or enfeeblement.

Great Spirit (passive): The proverbial king of the forest, a shifter in the lion form is granted the protection of Gaia herself, in the form of hefty spellsvs and AC bonuses.

Spiritual Binding -

In their early training, shapeshifters are taught how to bind a small part of the spirit of Gaia to their will allowing them to call a minor companion that will aid them in combat.

Spirit Call -

When a shapeshifter becomes more practiced at their craft, they can a stronger spirit of Gaia, turning a minor spirit companion into a more powerful ally.

Call of the Wild -

When a shapeshifter reaches the height of their power, they can control the very essence of nature. Invoking this power requires great concentration, but when called upon, calls upon a huge amount of Gaia's power to create a powerful spirit companion.

Idiotic, just like the rest of your contributions.

Come to us when you are a real man.

No second/third attack?

i like the concept. seems like more training than a monk would have, though.

Also, how would these shifts work with the werebeast ones? Could you be a werewolf-ram or a werefalcon-snake?

This is just like a BLM combined with a MONK and added a few VAMP/INVOKER spells (not sure if thats over top for qclass info.)

Who to respond to first?

Re Hegemon: Thank you for your ever insightful remarks. They will be taken into consideration as soon as Canada is recognized as something other than the illegitimate child of North America.

Re Melinda: I don't really think they would be using weaponry very often, so second and third attack aren't really necessary. The purpose of them having weapon skills is so that, like monks, they can have some familiarity with a couple of weapons, which they may or may not train if they so desire. I might not have explained myself very well, but most of the attacks would be coded into the forms. IE- Snake form gets two bites, a poisoned bite, and a tail lash. Also werebeasts would probably lose the ability to transform regularly, in favor of automastery of the shapeshift skill and a random form.

Re Aulian: I fail to see the connection to BLMs and monks, first of all. Is anything that can fight using a number of different tactics, rather than "dirt;disarm;bash" automatically considered to be too similar to a BLM or monk. Some of us LIKE the idea of classes that have a variety of abilities that you can use in every fight. Also, invoker isn't a QClass, and any similarities to any qclasses are minor, and for skills that have already been, or were intended to be toned down so they weren't so damned overpowered.

Re Chromatic: Thanks for a positive response.

I think there are some cool ideas in there, but I dont really see it becoming it's own class. I dont really get why it is tied to nature and can hide/camouflage. I always thought of a shapeshifter as more pragmatic in its skills and less derived from Gaia.

Oh, why is it that anytime Hegemon or myself take a shot at someone they decide to take a shot at Canada? It's pretty sad that you arent able to go man to man with someone in the classic game of wit and insult and have to resort to some pathetic attempt to insult our country.

That big white wasteland? Pfff, who even gives a peep?

I think first we should get a neutral hibrid class, and not say Druid as that is a Qclass.

Something of the likes of a neutral DK/Pal - A Knight.

Something with:

Cure serious

Mounted combat

Summon

Bash

Charm

Haste

It would be fun to see people with enlarged hasted charmies...

You must have misspelled or something...

And.. was that a serious idea?

What is wrong with a hasted enlarged Charmie ?

I mean, i can handle a Warlock.

And i can handle him enlarged.

Its not that hard to already have this on the game, (warlock might not be more dificult than triton).

Just get "the thing", and enlarge your new pet and haste it with a BMG.

Of course you can be a Justice BMG and use this plus the pet...

What's not wrong?

If you can haste the pet, you can haste yourself. If you can enlarge the pet, you can enlarge yourself. And you propose that to a class with bash?

It shows lack of understanding when it comes to class balance.

How can you talk about class balance, if i only proposed that skills to the class ?

Sure it would eat umprepared people for breakfast. But so does most classes.

Watch yourself get charged bodyslamed by a enlarged ogre berserker.

Nothing like being a halfling getting locked by with a giant sized but without the dex/AC to cover you.

at least she didn't say bodyslam...

Imagine a melee dark-knight with mounted charge, enlarge and haste (on their pet as well as themselves), and their cure skill bumped up to cure serious instead of cure light?

Ouch.

Dey

considering how things that have the same sort of skills beat me without breaking a sweat, I'm going to not even consider imagining it and eat a sandwich instead.

Mmmm, I had a BLT earlier, and it was great. And I agree with Melinda, a class with enlarge, haste, charm, mounted combat and bash? Why not just give them slay?

Cause slay is no fun, rather lag them to death and grin as they can't even enter one command.

Har har, you do realise I play druids right? We cant disarm or trip/bash
