I realize that this might be completely stupid, but it 6:30 am and I do what I want!
Perk: Dueler (notice how it isn't dualer)
Effect: Increases chance to parry when using only a one handed weapon (aka no shield, no dual wield).
Description of perk for selection at creation: You fight fair, but that does not mean you do not have the advantage...
can't see how I would sacrifice my second weapon / shield / two handed weapon for a little better parry. Unless you add in about 100 % extra prof or something

Bet you would if you were a battlemage or necromancer. And I say no. Think about an illithid with this perk and certain items.
illithid can't use it. Gotta use a weapon.
This is a good idea, but I don't see it happening. I think I recall someone saying that they try to avoid perks that directly influence pk. So by increasing your parrying, that is meddling too much with pk, and I don't think it will be implemented.
Actually, I was thinking of a perk a few weeks ago. Not really anything worth while, but.....
Perk: One Eye Open
You've learned to sleep with one eye open and only lose half your dex based AC when being attacked while sleeping.
shrug I'm not sure how it would work with game mechanics. Those are not my specialty, but it seemed cool when I was thinking about it. Just not necessary.
I like this perk in the context of non-giant melee classes. I don't think bmgs need the extra parry though. It isn't a replacement for a shield or two-handed weapon but instead if you get the off-hand or shield disarmed, this helps a bit. It is a perk, not a replacement. This is kinda already here in the form of double grip though.
NO!!!!! - mages (and communers when you sheild disarm them as a warrior) do NOT need more defense vs melee. They are meant to be weak vs melee for a REASON. Its the only way a warrior/zerk etc can hit them to kill them. No more melee defense for the mages, communers or anyone else. Melee's get put on the sharp end of the stick and have it run up you know where often enough as it is.
