i doubt this scenario man, with a shamana a halfling BLM for these reasons: assuming he does insom you from 2+ areas away, assuming you the BLM is not a n00b. he runs to a pretty place, you say you know where he goes, even if true let's say he gets up on you before you sleep, how many mals is he hitting anyway? and then even consider that while he's trying he's taking serious damage each time, all the while if the halfling BLM is feeling lucky why not mal the shaman? the halfling is only losing like 10-20 mana per hour, why not try to drain the shaman? and this is even assuming the shaman really has some cojones, man. i could feel ok about sleeping 3 hours while a shaman is near as a halfling and getting a bunch of fail messages and wake up. did a couple of BLM basic stances fall? oh well, maybe he loses, like i said i dont feel sorry for a BLM.
they should be a qclass or not a class anymore and buff the traditional melee's. maybe BLM's are the wave of the future. fine, but i think you could buff the other melee's even w/o giving them stuff like drain and somehow restore melee prowess. or i dont know the traditional melee's rely on lag and sometimes special moves. mundane moves. so idk but if you keep BLMs why in the h e l l play another melee.
edit: i know certain berzerk paths drop protective shield on iniation supposedly and focused bash can go through prot shield in theory, but these items certainly hasnt spurned anyone to play a dominating non-blade melee. why rely on these items when a blade can drain an opponent outright.
Not sure where you are going with the whole "all other melees suck compared to blademasters" theory. Warriors are still one of the strongest classes with someone who plays them right, and knows their way getting equipment.
except for the FACT that they havent been strong for like 5+ years. beat a strong warrior once. sac 1.x12. he's done dude. unless he does play also 2am-10am and requips in one session, he's a goner. his enemies aren't idiots, they're waiting for the warrior around the usual places. i mean just to get a whole set is ridiculous anyway, i wont go into it. and not suggesting communing should be weaker, but strong really strong items might as well be around all the damned time, b/c traditional melees are always going to need them. no shame in dying, but why be limited to really re-conning your character's around a random schedule.
noobishness can't really be considered here as a vet will obviously own up someone who is brand new pretty hard regardless of anything else. I'm also extremely confident that with a warrior (if I could select the lore) or zerk (if I could select the path) at 50 this second, in identical eq, that I could at very very least hang with you. Ranger would be tougher straight up, but if we could flee/reengage, and I could select path again obviously, it would very doable. Tougher than zerk, but very doable.
yeah you really showed me
and finally to re-enforce it for final:
they should do away with blademasters entirely or keep it unchanged and make it a qclass.
edit: just consider this, psi's were taken offline and made a qclass before they were able to do any real balance damage for really no reason. blademasters are still allowed to walk around and mess people up at will. plus they've already annihilated the reason for a warrior or berserker. plus they dont even establish any pre-conceived notion of RP as a class unto itself, or inspire any. it's really an all-around cruddy deal, although i thought the players that conceived the blademaster class meant well. it doesn't matter. i mean everyone be serious for a minute.
Well, you haven't made a valid case for your opinion, therefore your opinion is not valid.
What you have done is made yourself look like a pompous, arrogant *******, who is unwilling to accept anyone else's opinion or knowledge about anything. You have shown yourself to be close-minded and egocentric, and the notion that your opinion can stand on its own without any factual foundation is absurd.
When you learn to accept the fact that most people make their points valid via strong arguments rooted in knowledge of their subject matter, and also learn to utilize this ability in your own commentary, then perhaps I will resume reading/responding intelligently to your posts. Until then, in my mind you're just a poor PKer who gets his butt kicked by blademasters, and does dismally with warriors, and therefore wants them removed or improved respectively to enhance your own ability (or lack thereof) at PK.
Thank you, and drive through.
PS - I'm really just done. Anyone wanting to discuss further ideas/suggestions for blademasters, feel free to contact me via PM. I will continue to submit my ideas on the matter via the prayer forum.
And Immortals, I would appreciate it if, after giving Goldbond a chance to defend himself (which he, like most of the immature members of the forum, is bound to do), you would lock this thread. It's served its purpose.
whatever dude, you've rooted your case in the steady comfort of a class you do well at, and no wonder whatsoever. and you of course are going to champion your all-answer class that shouldnt even be here. have fun.
by the way, your model-of-the-month av thing is lame.

Damn, did I call that one.
it's extra amusing how you've commanded the IMMS to do something too.
actually dont worry about it, i'm just waiting to trade for 4 chrome mox. baldmasters 4 lyfe etc.
hmm...I would PM you with ideas, but I think I basically expressed mine. If you have anything interesting, I'd definately listen though.
I think this thread HAS served it's purpose. Everyone has expressed their views that wish to express them and it has turned into a match between goldbond and evangelion. My only problem is how every time a class discussion comes up, we can't keep player skill out of it. I believe blademasters appeal to a lot of the more experienced players because there are so many various strategies that will work that you can hit another character with something they've never seen before, thus you have the advantage. I don't agree with them becoming a qclass, because they have none of the unique flair of a qclass.
