Mob that opens lockboxes.

What happened to lockpicks? Picklock is a rogue skill to begin with, why would the ogre warrior be able to use lockpicks?  I’m not that smart, but it doesn’t really make sense to me.

Why not have a mob in Maelbrim who will pop your lockboxes for a price?

Because he idea behind lockboxes was to increase interaction between players.

f0xx, finally! we can argue, and im not stuck here reading all your crap that I actually agree with! :P :P

What interactions are actually happening from lockboxes?  90% of them look like this, and I've been on both sides:

Tell thief/ninja hey, mind opening a lockbox for me?

thief/ninjas tells you yeah, where?

meet up, unlock, leave.

Really great RP happening from these interactions.

Lockpicks were supposed to get put in years ago the IMMs had said, so obviously the intent for players to open them themselves was/is there...

Lockpicks do exist atm, not sure if those work though. (Was not my project.)

I believe the playerbase has been left to believe they were meant to be in the new ofcol area, which obviously has not been put in, and thus...definitely don't work :P

The current ones are not in Ofcol. I think you're right though about some being there too.

So, let's all poke Zoich to finally finish that up 😜

You are right, and I agree with your points (sad to disappoint you, expecting an argument lol). That is so because those "interactions" are artificially created, although I've had some of them lead to interesting things on multiple characters.

So here is what actually happened with the lockboxes change - 1) Lockboxed get implemented so people can interact more and get small rewards for it; 2) People want to be able to open lockboxes on their own; 3) Picks get implemented.

My point is, if we are going to implement picks, why not remove the need for picks in the first place? Make them unlockable with a simple unlock command. Much easier solution no?

Seems too easy...

So I know this will be unpopular.

If lockboxes were created to increase interaction, and the concept of lockpicks defeats said purpose, perhaps lockpicks should cost RP.

Lockpick 1 RP

Pick lock 100 RP

Just make lock picks unlockable but it takes 3 people working together to unlock them. 3 unlocks by 3 different characters and they open.

Or you can try to unlock the box, 10% chance it works. If it fails, the box remembers you, your char can never open it. You end up with boxes you can't open. Other people as well. Then they can trade boxes and keep trying. It will take on average 10 characters passing it around to open each box. Just keep handing it off to people until someone gets lucky.

Just offer keys to players for $2.99 ($1.99 on shady websites). Then make the whole game about giving players boxes and trying to get them to pay to open them. Double value if you annoy players by making them buy specific keys to open specific kinds of boxes. 👻

2.99 .... For herbs. Somehow I see this attracting homeland security.

What are we, Electronic Arts or Activision?

EA? Gotta buy companies then make them fail horribly.

Activision? Invest in companies, make them fail horribly then back out.

So.. It's a toss up? lol
