Fine Clothier

my idea is for a shop where you can buy custom tailored clothing. clothing for every part of the body would be available and cost a minimum of 10k each.

basically, the player would be able to set the short description for the piece of clothing they were purchasing. they would also be able to create the long description. however, a label would be appended to every long description that reads something like 'Crafted by XXX at the Fine Clothier of Shasarazade'.

Cool, I could wear full suit of "uber gear" just to scare the heck out of others.

And then you'd have people using f***ing kewl piece of armor and stuff like that and that would just not go over well. I think a better use of that 10k would be putting it to somebody's contract. That would make things great!

That sounds alot like a Godwars or a dystopia idea. I dont know if the imms here would go for such a thing, but it works well when there no rp, so what are the drawbacks to doing it with rp?

The only problem I see is people making items to mimic other items.

So long as the eq isn't overpowered I think it would be neat, but I'm not sure it should be as easy as a store, would take away how special it is. Maybe a reward for a quest or something.

That EQ doesn't need to have any power at all. It can be there just to look cool and add a little flavor to a character.

RP clothing basically? I've gone about and looked for specific peices of not that great eq before, just cus they fit well into how i was trying to portray the character. Seems it would just be another way of doing that. Then again I could see peopel trying to make things that looked like the greatest thing you've ever seen, and though most of us wouldn't fall for it, it might be kinda confusing for newbs.

The imms could always just add a store with a bunch of premade fabrics and stuff. That'd avoid stupid names and avoid balancing problems.

It'd bring out a whole new world of RP, especially for those who try not to rely on equipment to PK, and those who try to use clothing to explain their description. It'd be cool.

I agree.

Bali brought up something similar to this(tokens to change desc) I think and I don't think people liked it.

ah, just like we needed a non-Bali to propose the idea. heh.

I like the idea of a fine clothier with some premade clothing. Maybe have the items redone every once in awhile to simulate fashion trends.

But even if this isn't instituted, if you're looking for clothing that effects your RP there is actually a good amount to be found. On some of my early characters I kept some alternate clothes (usually something fancy for all of those weddings... I even found pantyhose ) in my bag that had nothing to do with PK. Try looking in shops in cities other than the big three (example: Falen Dara). There are places other than armor and weapon shops.

EDIT: Actually if this is instituted I would LOVE to volunteer for that job. I'm a fashion design student who's getting into costuming and I think I'd have alot of fun with it, especially if I don't have to worry about keeping the clothing balanced.

As far as mimicking uber armor with the store....that would just be abuse along the lines of emoting that you left the room.

I don't really foresee people jeopardizing their chars over fake armor. Even if it was not classed as abuse I don't really see it happening that much. A person will quickly be known as a scam artist if they try to profit from it.

You know what, scratch the whole store idea. If this was available as a store within the Herald cabal there would be ZERO chance of it being abused. I like that idea a lot.

And outsiders could theoretically pay a Herald to have the clothing made. (Assuming of course the resultant clothing wasn't made Herald only)

now honestly I didn't like the idea...until Merriwren brought up the bit about fashion. It's one aspect that FL hasn't really touched base on. I mean of course there's great eq and lot's of it, for fighting and for looking, but a shop that actually displays and sells what's "in style"....sounds pretty interesting.

I can see it now

Global Echo- A new trend has swept over the lands! Hot Pants are now In Style!

Of cousre hot pants will never be in style....jsut a funny example.

It is a good idea, but in FL's world it would be seldom used in my opinion, simply because of the PK atmosphere. Sure it would make for a little more in-depth roleplay but nobody is going to want to get caught out in rags as opposed their uber armor.

Dey

Instead of this idea maybe its something that could be incorporated into a trader cabal. A neat skill maybe to restring eq's desc.

Actually, there's probably quite a bit of "flavor" eq around already. We just have to find it.

Oooh!

I would LOVE that! I always like to dress my characters in pretty clothes despite what they do for the actual character. I would love to be able to buy new clothes.

My only question is: Would Crypt mind transferring all of his in game gold to my chars so I can go shopping?

I also support this idea, I think everyone saying that people would try to mimic pieces of already ig armor are a bit off base. Perhaps make it so that you could pick out a couple of keywords like black, white, pink whatever and then tunics and maybe an adjective. Just an idea. But that way you could sorta control what gos in, and give a wide variety of options.

They also say that disco is never coming back. But I still hang on to my hot pants and silk suits. You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE!

God I hope not.
