Saves and sleeping

Should Saves also drop similar to how AC does while sleeping?

Classes affected: Everyone that sleeps, also necro, thief, ninja. I feel this might help to balance the game more in favor of these guys.

I believe psi, lich, vamp are in different categories.

A few things come to mind.

  1. If saves are coming from armor worn, why should someone asleep in said armor be dropped?

  2. Do necromancers or ninja really need to be stronger?

  3. If this is to aid Dark Knights, would it not be more prudent to apply a save break affect to Cleave?

  4. Why does a thief need to lower opponents spell saves?

Not against the concept, sell it to me.

1. Well AC is already dropped, similar logic can be applied to saves.

  1. Yup! Maybe we'll actually see some do some damage at 50 again.

  2. Forgot about Dk's. Interesting idea too.

  3. Maybe they don't, but it opens the doorway to some interesting strats for them.

If saves drop, then duration of said sleep effects also need to drop, like in half.  Sleeping skills have a lot more going for them than just the ability to cast mals on sleeping victims.  Personally, I'd rather land a sleep skill that lasts a few ticks and have the opponents sanc/protective/flight wear off rather than a shorter duration sleep just to make it easier for a blind.

Edited

Sleep already allows you to cast 4 hours of uncontested spells on your target.

That's 8x4 = 32 spells.

There is no need for it to affect saves.

Just because someone sacrificed something for saves, doesn't mean sleep should give you a double bonus.

Your actual problem would be resolved if people couldn't walk around with high saves AND hit/dam values.

This is just breaking something else instead of actually fixing the real issue.

While I could possibly agree that there is no need for it to affect saves, I don't think that the 32 spells example is a valid counter argument.

I can't count how many times I landed a sleep on my last necro just to run out of mana or run out of sleep timer without landing as much as a blind or curse on my sleeping opponent.

I had the same issue with a necromancer. I would land sleep and I maybe get one mal off going through about 1k mana. I would have to catch ticks so I was able to acid blast when slept wore off.

Imagine being a ninja unlucky enough to have the timer at 0 to land a blindness dust.

love getting the sleep on a cleave and then not being able to do anythign with it lol

Yeah even  with +1 mal and +1 spell I failed 18 blind attempts on a sleeping person just the other day.  I did manage to get curse, but that took about 10.
