Consensus was most people think this would be a good change. Didnt see much imm input. This is an easy quick change and I'll roll a paladin to test balance right away.
Paladins gain charmies
Paladins cant defeat casters/communers? Uhm, stack hr/dr and spam charge. They can dual wield, prevent virtually all afflictive damage with 2 moonstone pendants, heal their wounds as well as cure mals. They are a sick class that has one glaring weakness, neutrals.
My opinion only :)
Low str 6 attacks vs high ac shield wearing cure crit classes is not gonna work these days
idk, I usualy just smile at paladins and pat them on the head as I survey their armor for what I want.
I think @Kyzarius is being completely honest.
If I am being honest I will say that I find the class extremely easy to survive with. I can't kill with it, but that seems to be the nature of the game for high defense classes.
I don't think a charmie is going to change that too much. Unless wwe are talking passive damage, in which case we could create via a new skill/spell.
Letting unmounted paladins utilize goliath as a shield against secondary opponents, or enabling unmounted paladins to order goliath to trample enemies for instance.
Rather than a physical pet that they will ultimately use as rescue bait. Just one opinion.
Yeah, make Goliath a combat pet with some procs, badda bing badda boom.
What? I gotta fight undead shit or whatever? Heroism mode engage.
Whats that? I'm being accosted by some neutral headhunter or something? Goliath, I choose you!
Could also add religion based effect to magic strike on unmounted paladins.
For flavor.
Adding some dirt kick/bash/attacks to Goliath would indeed be cool and a suitable replacement perhaps.
Zrothums mighty steed turns around swiftly and sends you flying with his hind quarters!
I would actually like to see Goliath as the playable class and they get paladin charmie. They could switch every 24 hours on command. When you are Goliath you get new skills and the paladin auto communes. When you are Paladin Goliath makes use of abilities as described above.
But in all seriousness I support the idea as proposed by Eg.
cough cough wink wink nudge nudge
After playing one for a bit I really think that adding Spear and flail to their weapon choices would great. That being said I never felt in danger as a pally, even having only a basic understanding of them I easily had a winning kd. I don't know if they actually need the buff of pets with how tank like the class is.
