Executions

You're right. It's much worse.

Forced to hug Bryntryst's feet.

Much worse. Forced to lick Bryntryst's feet.

I think I'm going to be sick.

  1. Lynched. Let there be a small chance the rope breaks' date=' and you live for like...5 ticks, but eventually suffocate.[/quote']

Uh, that doesn't make any sense, so I'm going to take a stab at it. Did you mean make it so there's a chance that their neck doesn't break (instant death) and instead it takes several hours to die?

Yeah, making the execution itself take longer would be an awesome chance for some better RP. The code is probably more or less in place ... the person can just get transferred to the central square or commons and be put in a state of being stunned (unable to speak/move/heal) and some emotes/emits could be going on. It would be cool if they could also hear what other people in the room were saying, giving an opportunity for taunts and whatnot (but also later retribution for said taunts). I think if executions were a bit more spectacular and time-consuming, more people would likely show up to watch them. It would be a spectacle, like in the good ol' dark ages, giving people a chance to interact, hear what's going on, be entertained ... and of course, for thieves to pick every pocket in the room (Yes ... JUST like the middle ages!). Anyway, I think it would kick ***, but I know imms have enough on their hands that it might not get done. Still ... please? ;-)

This is what i meant in my first post being that it should take long, more player interaction with they dying!! The want to see him hang there for 5 ticks and ridicule him while he is on his last breath. 5 ticks to try to be saved by adventurous clan. So many possibilities... so many great RP reasons as well as just more fun.

Now we just need somebody to lay there while being quartered to yell "FREEDOM!" in Central Square...

Uh' date=' that doesn't make any sense, so I'm going to take a stab at it. Did you mean make it so there's a chance that their neck doesn't break (instant death) and instead it takes several hours to die?[/quote']

There are cases in history where they drop the person through the trap door, but they used a bad rope, so they fall through. The noose remains around their neck, suffocating them...until they slowly die writhing around on the ground.

Huh, I was under the impression that it was the fact that your entire weight was being held up by a length of rope around your neck that killed you, I didn't realize that the rope actually tightened enough to strangle you. . .

edit: That also reminds me of a certain scene from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

The way a successful lynching goes...it does break your spine, and causes instant death. Heh, but when they fail...nasty **** happens. There are stories all through history where things like that happen, with different mistakes made by the lynchers.

If the rope snaps, it doesn't break your back...but the rope actually DIGS into your neck...and is embedded in. It totally suffocates you. You are most of the time dead even if the lynching fails.

And the real reason why they would cover the person's head in a shroud wasn't because they wanted to blindfold them ... it was because often times the person's eyeballs would pop out of their sockets from the force of the noose tightening around their neck so violently, and they didn't want spectators to see anything that grotesque. It's true!

You know, I'm fairly glad where this post went. It actually broadened hugly from it's origional request. I like it. I never have thought abuot having some better rp'ed executions. I think it'd be brilliant. Don't even have to lengthen it. Just take them to central during the last three hours. It'd be great. Tribs could sell stones, tomatoes, squishy things, small useless gnomes......you know the usual.

I like it.

That's brilliant! I think that'd be even better than making the execution itself last longer. Have the person in central, unable to move or initiate combat actions (and of course, somehow have them immune to people attacking them), but let them be able to say, emote, yell, etc. That would make executions not be such an annoying thing to happen to you; you would have those three hours to do all kinds of RP ... posturing, pleading, being insane, standing stoically ... whatever suits your character. And seeing as it would be more of an event, more people would probably show up to watch, allowing the person being executed to really play it up and have the opportunity to craft some memorable RP moments for everyone involved.

So uh, again ... pleeeeeaaaase? :-)

Ohhh if this was implimented I'd want to make another shaman just so I could preach a last desperate sermon before I was drawn and quartered.

Psycho child...

You could shorten your sig to

01010000 01000000

and it comes out the same.

AND YES!! NEW KICKASS INTERACTIVE EXECUTIONS WOULD ROCK!!!!

And warpow you could shorten your signature to one sentance, but it isn't as cool that way now is it?

That's actually a really awesome idea.

I agree. Warpnow shortening his sig into something comprehensible by someone who does not feel like taking the time to decode the binary into ascii codes is absolutely brilliant.

Nyah.

At least MINE is a sentance...psycho child's is two letters!!

No mine isn't get a proper hex translator.
