Group / No follow

I'm not sure if anyone thinks this would be a good idea but would it be possible or a good idea to allow people to form groups without having to follow someone? This would aid in pk situations where its 2vs2 and people need to use area spells or in the higher level areas that require people to tank and not follow them into the room....any feedback is welcome.

Seems like a good idea, especially the not following people into rooms, but then, I'm no expert. I don't even know how difficult that would be to code.

Just could be an auto..

Autofollow

You no longer follow your group mates.

You typically don't hit your group mates with most area spells.

I know, I meant so that when you are grouped you can cast area spells and not have the problem of one of the people in the group leading you all over the place... like if you flee and someone else flees and they start dragging you all over the place and might end up messing up your whole plan.

And I like that idea, have it as an auto like you said where you can follow people with AUTOFOLLOW off to be used solely for grouping purposes and once grouped, when they move you will not unless you change the auto.

I was always a fan of the REST or SIT command.

Its just another way of doing it.

With rest or sit....you still be running one way, and your group comes by and takes you another.

So, it would be a neat rework if to start a group you did...

group

and the other char has to group you back.

No need to follow, but if you type autofollow, you follow the person you grouped with.

I think rangers should be able to turn follow on and off without it affecting their pets. Release is there when you want to get rid of one.

That should got for any class with pets or even for bought pets, nofollow should only effect PCs when toggled.

Then how to get the beasts/zombies to quit following you when you're half way across the lands? Sometimes it's easier to ditch them completely. Besides, if you don't want followers, nofollow, then summon pets.

quit/log in/release mob

You don't want to be doing that very frequently.

Just make release work anywhere in the lands.

and yeah, i think the loggin loggout thing is frowned upon if abused.

It's one of the disadvantages of being in a group... you get security and extra strength, while you have the drawback of not having total control over your actions or what's going on around you.
