Paladin Talk

IMO paladins are great on paper, but when you really look at them they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Charge is fantastic (against non countering classes), wrath is fantastic but its a minimum 2 round lag in a world that easily stacks afflictive saves. Since they are a warrior hybrid id like to see them have a selectable set of weapon options coupled with the (weapon applicable) warrior lores, not necessarily the masterys. Im sure they would still mostly all go polearm however it lends a new twist on their defensive capabilities as well as something they can do in battle thats not afflictive based.

wrath is not true 2 round lag

Personnally I think Paladins have two issues:

1.) Lack of offensive weapons.  I know they are supposed to be more defensive than pure melees but given that they have dual wield and third attack melee is clearly a large part of their kit - and their weapon choice really hampers that.  I'd suggest Flails as it fits thematically alongside daggers to give them more dual wield options.

2.) Lack of Interesting mechanics.  Paladins comes across as pretty boring to play - not weak - just boring.  Given the recent direction of giving classes selectable Paths (which i think is great btw) I'd imagine there is some cool stuff that could be done there.

Edit:

The other thing I forgot to mention is the total lack of Synergy between Heroism and the two Cabal Choices for Paladins.  Just allowing Heroism to still have Cabal Charmies is a change that I think is overdue.

Suggestion 1.

@ level 40 Wrath becomes affected by Holy Word. It should become save vs. Breath at that point.

Suggestion 2.

Sub-shield expertise would benefit a defense based hybrid that can not return fire.
