Logging

I was reading a post yesterday about how someone had only gotten like 44RP points in the span of a single life over a very prolonged period of time for the character. This is about RP points again (to a degree), but more so about logging, as it has been stated that if you want to get RP points, you can choose whether or not to post it in the sub forum if you don't plan on writing journals. The trade off of not posting in the RP subcategory is that your character is no longer really anonymous at all, but even though Imms can figure it out easily if they so choose, I'm still suggesting we incorporate a IG logger that specifically logs only a few things rather than everything. Why is this needed? Simply because in the past there's been ways to figure out through the Forum who posts anonymously that people have abused and it is definitely a huge downside if in the future someone were to figure out how to do the same thing to the RP section. I'm not saying they will but it could happen.

So what should it log?

I would suggest logging everything that 'replay' already does and rather than starting from the beginning it doesn't log anything, but inputting a command will begin the log. These logs in turn can be submitted by the character without broadcasting it to anyone who we as the player are. This logging would extend to emotes as well from other PCs and not just random MOBs.

How does it help?

Rather than Imms reading it in the forum, they can read it IG which means if they're paying attention to the game window if they're also playing, they can still 'see' what's going on IG without having to switch windows for the game to the forum and back again. Yes, I realize that it's not difficult to do, but this is more about anonymity being preserved if a Player so chooses to do so.

The issue?

Because journals also contribute to benefit a character, RP logs tend to benefit often in much more ways. A journal may get you 10RP points, but a log can also offer you a lot more in some cases depending on the depth of it and how long it is. Being that logs will generally be much larger than a journal/note/application though it means once it goes through, too many lines have a tendency to boot your character offline. I would suggest that it is extended to Imms though to not have any restrictions on it if possible. Since logs are also typically a great deal longer than 80 lines, if it is possible I'd say to try and remove spaces between says to cut down on the information.

Now I know that it's not really needed, but I feel this may add a bit more singularity to a character than posting in Prayer. I'm not saying that posting there for it should stop, as people would be more welcome to still post there for similar prizes.

Edited

I believe there are protocols in place that carry severe penalties to keep any given staff member from utilizing OOC knowledge (aka the prayer forum) to their advantage when dealing with a player they may personally dislike. IF not, @Ereleiwould have been slaying @f0xxand @Firemanad gladium for some of the remarks they made early on regarding his coding. Paranoia against the staff is ignorance of the protocols staff must attend to.

And honestly, @Anume has stated to me in game during an OOC session that I am the most obnoxious/annoying person (two separate characters). Does she hate me? Maybe but I doubt it. Does she spite me, Never. Paranoia is grounded in the self, let it discharge and be done with it.

Although accurate and those measures are indeed in place, there is no such thing as an unbiased opinion regardless of the topic. This is more of a means to ease the minds of those people who may think that way and they still can choose not to input them if they don't want to. It's more of a way to add to characters like journals already do without the need to come to the forum to do the same thing. I don't think anyone necessarily hates specific players so much as they may hate specific characters of specific people.

Often times we have a false sense of knowing how others feel as well which further says something about that person in general. If an Imm doesn't like a player, a pattern wouldn't be recognized anyways if it were done in a methodical fashion. Those prejudices can be easily hidden to such a degree that no one is aware of it, including the player themselves. Either way that doesn't matter, it was just an example of why it could be a good implementation overall.

It would also help with players who don't have a means of logging if they're playing from a basic telnet route instead of an actual program. That one is a huge plus, and it also offers the chance we get new players to be allowed to have access to the same thing. That would greatly benefit the game in those terms more than any other reasons.

but it may also give players a chance to feel like they're not being singled out by their thinking an Imm dislikes the person on the forum. Again, if they want to, they can easily figure out all of the characters you play.

I have been an immortal now for what? A couple months? This....

This gets old very quickly.

There will always be bias. Always. I understand that the majority of the IMMs maintain an unbelievable amount of professionalism, but there have been and continue to be IMMs that make this perception fade away. I have had IMMs approach me after I have killed what I assume to be their characters and make remarks IG. This circumstance was reported and dealt with, but it is moments like this that tarnish the reputation of the rest.

ALL of the IMMs were once players. The current players know pretty much who each IMM is. It is difficult for anyone to take criticism, punishments, or penalties from someone that we have seen break both RP and rules while they were a player. It turns into a " who are you tell me? " type of response.

Do I think favoritism exists in FL? Yes I do. It does. I don't care what the IMMs claim, it is there. BUT! It is not there to the extent that certain players claim. If a player is constantly rolling out great characters, has longevity, top notch PK and RP, and overall ENRICHES the environment of the game then of course the IMMs are going to favor that player over someone that is constantly a pain in the ass. Why wouldn't they? Why wouldn't they reward those that not only make their experience better, but everyone else's?

Again, its all about toxicity. Single most toxic game I've ever played. Success isn't heralded, its condemned. You want to be successful at FL? Get ready to be flamed and forced to delete. In my personal experience, you'll receive it from both IMMs and players.

The issue isn't whether any Imm does it or has done it or never at all. You'll come to realize that any people in a capacity of leadership roles that you'll be scrutinized on situations even if it's completely untrue and is unfounded. The point of the post is now being glossed over by commenting literally on a portion that is a given in literally any facet of life where people in power are playing favorites. Does it get old? Fuck yes. It got old for me too when I was in leadership roles and had the exact same things happen to me. We were also punished far more harshly if we got in trouble, and often when we weren't even a part of something. I was almost fired a few years ago because I was 'harassing'/ someone and creating a hostile work environment.

I got pulled into an office and sat down and had been told that I was instigating violence (I talked about playing Call of Duty as a way to let me relax when I had been specifically asked how I do outside of work). Then I was told that I shouldn't be talking about natural selection (the guy who initially started the claim was the one who made the remark and I only replied that most of us wouldn't likely be here right then if it were still like the way he envisioned). I was also told that I couldn't swear because it was unprofessional (I was actually trying to see how long I could go without cursing and I hadn't in over a year at this point). I was suspended for 3 days, fully expecting to be fired by the time I did return, but had found out that it was going to go into my personal file despite the fact that there was 0 evidence to back up those three examples. What saved me was when I acknowledged that an Associate was doing something stupid that I had told him not to do and he decided it was funny to make me angry. That Associate wasn't the one who went to HR.

I found out later that one of the major reasons I wasn't fired was due to the fact that another manager had overheard the one who did say something talking to another manager (one I've had a long history with of him constantly trying to find ways of getting many people terminated and creating problems with myself) where that Manager had said he needed to tweak their story a little since it wasn't enough. Shit happens. So do I think you guys cheat? No. And even if you did, I don't really care because it doesn't affect me in any ways. So I'm going to delete that part of the post because that is literally the only point that everyone has posted about so far and not the overall idea itself.
