RP Strategies

Role Play has intensified with the addition of edges. It has taken on a new life as something to be lusted after, envied, or horded. In our world today, we see role play being pushed by almost as many as we see pushing PK. It has been a change that has truly awakened the inner characters across Aabahran.

The side effect of this change appears to be strategies arising where characters know which rewards they seek, and actively RP to get them. These powerful characters, now rewarded for their hard work, become the targets of envious characters struggling to gather the rewards for themselves. Which leads to entropy towards not only the rewarded character, but the system that rewarded them.

Then we get threads wishing to change or modify the reward system placed by these entropic players.

I suggest we can eliminate some of the frustrations by creating new lower cost lower return rewards. Most of the Edges are 100+ RP, Some a little less. There were suggestions for low cost edges but we have not seen any implemented, we should. We should also open some other skills/spells up to be purchased for RP points, currently we have identify, tarot, locate object, and comprehend languages? We could expand that to give characters more options. Pick Locks comes to mind, but there are several skills/spells that would not be overpowered but would be quite useful.

Lets give those players who fail to earn 150RP some decent interesting tricks to keep them intrigued by the changes in their characters.

Edit: Thought some examples might be in order to inspire your mind.

X amount of RP might buy you some of those spells you currently have to farm through consumables. Such as;

Armor, Detect Invis, Detect Magic, Shield, ect.  (reduced farming = more actual playtime, a positive use for RP for some players)

Perhaps, and not sure why this one is not there already, Word of Recall?

I'm not a fan of giving more mage spells to melees,its not like I can buy blind fighting as a mage =P

I do like the idea of cheaper edges. 

How about giving the current edges tiers? Their final tier stays as strong as they currently are but the lower ones are far cheaper and weaker. 

Same with the rp necklace, tier one could cost 30 Rp points and be 1 hit and dam and 2 save spell, then upgradable until it matches today's one.

Ah.... this is already in effect? Edges all have different costs...

The RP necklaces are already tiered?

I guess I didn't clarify enough, I meant for example a bless edge that costs half as much as the current one but is half as strong, which can be upgraded to the full strength one (ratios and prices are just examples) 

This would actually solve the issue I experience about never being able to purchase anything.
