Pinned Locked Santa!

I have two ideas. But they are related under an umbrella of one idea. So it counts as 1 idea with two points. (I win).

We create an economy using our current currency program (gold) to buy new currency:** Imperial Coin (we can call this whatever we want - calling it this now because this is an idea not the actual implementation)**

Gold can be transferred through/exchanged through MERCHANT/TRIUBAL (Yes I know, two warring cabals gasp (but not with Merchant) - what an interesting dynamic for RP and REAL manipulation with the two cabals who have a real interest in the cities of Aabahran.) at a better rate. Merchant/Tribunal shops are available for exchange but the rate isn't as good.

Stamps can be bought through Herald giving them a bit more of a purpose then just sending notes on peoples behalf (As they can still do! But we need to push the fee behind this. **On a side note: **the most off putting thing about being a Herald is that you're literally everyone's secretary.)

Gold to IC: 5gc / 1 IC

CP to IC:  2cps  /  1 IC

First instance: Stamps - Stamps are used to send notes, create votes. Sold only through Heralds (at a discount) or a Herald shop at a premium.

1st Class Mail: Able to send the note to All + External Cabals  - Cost: 10 Imperial Coins 2nd Class Mail:** **Able to send the note to **Clan + Race + Guild  - Cost: 5 Imperial Coins 3rd Class Mail: **Able to send the note within your Cabal. - Cost: 2 Imperial Coins

Second Instance: City shops

City shops revert to using the newly minted Imperial Coins.  The prices would be adjusted and people will be required to switch coins using merchants, council members or the shops/exchanges that are set up.

**Imperial Mint: **

The mint will be controlled by both the Merchant and Tribunal (council) Cabals. But the best thing is that the role of commerce will increase as Merchant and Tribunal are able to negotiate and vote increases/decreases on interest rates for loans or conversion.

  • Perhaps there is a way we would have a mechanic that offered interest on gold in current bank accounts.

  • Is there an idea that the Mint can only produce a certain number of Imperial Coin? That way it becomes scarce - automatically when a bounty is collected you loose half of your current Imperial Coin - making Syndicate bounties that much more viable and important to keep running. It'll also be a way of 'killing' or 'stopping' someone from controlling too much currency?

What would Aabahran do if one person held all the Imperial Coin? Or so much of it you couldn't buy consumables? Talk about public enemy number 1!!!!

Obviously there would be mechanics which make that harder - eg the bank board (tribunal + merchant) would increase the rate of exchange to a point where its ridiculous... But if you pulled it off.....

Just an idea.

Seems interesting!

The only thing I thought was odd was equating 5gc to 2cp, I think CP are much more valuable than that, related to gold.

Numbers pulled from a hat. More getting the idea out then thinking on balance. (but you are ofcourse right).

Its more like 100gp = 1cps

@Ulmusdorn I really dig the Stamps idea. I have wanted to send things out before but didn't want to use Herald. Definitely something to look into at the very least.

I would like to be able to truly make my own race, by picking its own stats and moving things around.  Like one race where you get to chose its stats.  You want him to be smart, you get said amount of points to move around as you please.

^ You could probably get this if you:

a ) pick the closest race and make a character

b ) have a great description/history/qrace app

c ) don't ask for OP stats

I know we only get to ask for one thing.

But my alt would like a mechanic that allows mages to return fire when holding a wand. .... Oh the possibilities ....

Have a Bloody Mary Christmas Santa!

Might as well ask...

  • Remove the restriction of 1 q thing per player.  It makes no sense....
  • Remove the limits on Q things.  Why have them? Really?

So people will have lots of vamps, or undead, or demons and every goodie will be an avatar....

  • Reduce cost of Edges against Q things to balance.

Remove hour restrictions.

  • They are obscenely long.
  • Cut cabal promotion hour restrictions in half at LEAST.
  • Automate it up to T.

 No more application process.

  • For Cabals you spend 20 RP to enter, requires clan membership.

No more cabal allow application process.  Which is just another stop-gap waiting period anyways.

You meet the Req for qthing you do the quest for 20 RP an attempt.

  • I will use PSI as an example.  Get to level 50 in the right class with the align.  Go to some quest mob, pay 20 RP, get the quest.
  • Move Vamp to lvl 50 in line with all the other Remort classes.

I am a serious time sink kind of player, and even I find these things just boring and tedious.  You idle online for hours on end just to meet some time req.  Usually only 1 or 2 other people to interact with anyways.

We need to get away from this idea that playing FL for hundreds of hours on end is fun.  With AAA games out the wazoo FL needs to modernize, or I am afraid its just going to continue to wilt.

I dislike 90% of your suggestions, Kyz.

Except:

Only those two make sense. Everything else follows the "give me more, faster" logic.

Yeah, give me more faster is exactly the point.

This stems from a thought i had the other night.

Why mud when I can play a game that I can pause, actually get somewhere in, and don't have to invest 10 hours just to unlock some new abilities.

What is this BS where you get chastised for wanting things quicker in a game...it's a game.  I would say if I wanted to wait I would stick to work, or RL.  But then I get things quicker IRL than in Aabahtan lol.

You keep comparing FL to those "other" games.

You forget FL is better.

Better how?  Allows greater freedom of action and character?  You bet - I'd put FL above any game with graphics I've ever seen on this scale.  More intricate, better balanced combat?  Quite possibly, depending on the game it's being compared to.  Grants equal amounts of fun and engagement per hour spent playing?  Ah... now that's where I agree FL can fall short.  The trick is that it's impossible to predict what it is you're going to get out of an hour or two of FL before you log in - am I going to be fully engaged during this session, chatting or fighting constantly?  If so, you're likely to have an absolute blast.  But sometimes you log in, and feel you've got very little of worth to do - and so instead you largely end up watching a show in the next window while you're on logging hours, checking for eq and maybe spamming a spell or skill to finish mastering it.  The peaks of FL are higher than you'll find elsewhere, but the lows can drop farther as well; playing some Total War: Warhammer or the like may not give me quite the thrill that a great session of FL does, but it also isn't a game I've watched entire seasons of shows while playing either.

Allow merchants to hold any align item in their inventory. There are some items that are good only and due to the fact that goodies cannot be merchants.... Leaves some items that merchants cannot sell.
