Having played an avatar, once you get to a certain level it's not difficult to stay there. I think something like a 10-15% vuln from "unholy" weapons is within reason and may help level the playing fields a bit. Maybe something like this already exists but I was just thinking how we have a few holy vuln qrace/qclass but nothing with an unholy vuln. Not that we need it, but that got me thinking to this idea and it seemed like maybe a good balance.
Edit: what got me thinking about this was Kyz's PK log of Rath vs. Courael. Admittedly, some timing issues happened with Courael, but the biggest flaw he had was not using a cursed weapon. If he did, I think you would not have been so lucky. His damage output was so ridiculous compared to you. No offense, it was a great read and W :)
HELP: Hunter of the Virtuous You've learned the weaknesses of those blessed of light, thus your weapons easily slice through them.
In my opinion, Avatar suck and aren't that much powerful. The trend of adding vulns to everything isn't a fix all. Specialty when mages can't take advantage of them.
Mya how can something that only adds benefits to whatever youre playing, suck?
Avatars have zero negative affects inherently. There's a couple rp/pk style things to deal with but they literally do nothing but make your combo even stronger lol
I cover most of Avatar powers by default on my characters with items/consumables/saves. And the strongest one, that can also be covered with an item, is hard to reach and advantageous to only half the classes. The passive benefits are nice, but that's it.
On the reverse of all this, you have the most capitalistic zealotry RP that you are enforced to do, on fear of outcasting. Forcing you to kill people you don't wish to kill, but must because you are an Avatar. Not to speak of the neutrals, who you cannot ever kill or bring harm in any way and that have a cabal that half the objective is to murder you with prejudice. All that it takes is someone pissed rolling an neutral thief and you are guaranteed to regret having become an Avatar.
You presume here are evils they don't want to pk. When I have played avatars I enjoyed the binary aspect of the classes rp/pk. You're evil? I'm going to kill you.
Yes, mya, you can get ALMOST everything they have via consumable. There are a couple things you can't...and the ones that you can't...75% of those things are perm/auto on an avatar, so that trumps having to collect/use consumables. One of the ones that you can get (the final one) only lasts a couple ticks with a useable, whereas the avatar one gives you much more.
All in all, avatars do nothing but make your combo stronger. Yes, you will have watchers coming at you, but since watcher seems to always a dead cabal, who cares.

A shame 'Hunter of the Virtuous' is just based on weapons. It would be good if your weapons and spells both got the bonus.
