[Invoker] Allowing mystic trendils to be cast while in combat.

This change is only really a quality of life change for invokers vs mobs which have a heap more hp than other characters and an invoker who is mystic trendiling in pvp is wasting rounds and is only putting himself at a disadvantage.

In my experience changes that are tied to nothing more than convenience are usually not worth doing. As a former coder I know that no matter how clean code appears to function, it is usually riddled with a thousand tiny bugs. Then you fix them, and it is riddled with 1500 tiny bugs, because you have code that was dependant on (a) poor line(s) of code, then you fix the bad segments, and suddenly everything tied to this section of code now needs repaired. It is like trying to fix broken plates with a hammer.

This would actually be an easy fix, Brofessor. Our code base uses a system of POS_ for whether or not it can be done fighting, sitting, standing, sleeping, etc.

Now whether it's changed? It doesn't seem like a huge issue, but can you give me more of a reason why you want it changed? Anyone for this idea?

Invoker PvE, when coupled with a Cleric, might make this a bit too much.

well as it stands now, if an invoker wanted to use mystic tendrils in combat, he's fighting something with mana shield up.  Allowing him to cast it in combat will only make it where he won't have to flee and cast it.  PVP wise, an invoker will almost never want to cast tendrils in combat, i can't think of a reason why he would.  PVE wise it wouldn't make anything OP.  its just as easy to flee/cast it unless you are tanking mobs in an area with a bunch of aggro mobs that can kill you when you flee.

I like the idea and wouldn't mind the change.

If this were allowed then, when PvEing with a cleric, you would literally never have to flee from the tanking of a magical MOB. Of course you wouldn't do it in PvP (unless against a raged zerker?)

We're talking about a combo that requires two people to pull off and its only effective against mobs that do magical damage where as there are combos that people can solo things with that only require one person.

For example if you replaced invoker with ogre ranger, it has more potentially to clear things than an invoker/cleric combo and probably at a faster rate too.

But without going into detail, if cheesing mobs to death were an issue then psi's would need to be looked into as well.

The specific branch of Psionicist cannot simply sit in combat without fleeing for that (be careful talking about this.) My point still stands, however. With one that can cure an Invoker, said Invoker wouldn't have to flee to regain mana. I'm not saying this is reason enough to say no to the idea, but it definitely needs to be considered by the higher ups who make these sort of decisions.
