Its as simple as it sounds, can we get a History Share command to share our history with other individual players, thus keeping us from having to tell the same story dozens of times?
syntax:
History Share
You expound upon your personal history to .
History Share
You have decided has had plenty of time to get to know you.
I think it would be useful, but I would be concerned about it being a lazy way to RP. Like a here, read this because I don't want to take the time to tell you who my character is and where I come from. I think the more you RP with someone the more tiny tidbits of your characters past are revealed instead of one giant knowledge dump. I don't know just my opinion. I like the idea of being able to read histories though because the more you read the better you are at writing them.
There have been a lot of ideas like this one. I don't like either of them.
When you meet someone on the street you don't get to know them, heir history, personality and goals right away. You must build a realtionship and get to know them. They might decide to not open themselves to you, to deceive you or to manipulate you.
Sharing your history, to me, seems like cheating. It's a shortcut to getting others involved. You go around, show them your history and they now know how to approach you, what would spark your interest, what would turn you down. There is no thrill from getting to know the character.
That said, despite playing a text-based game, my tolerance threshold for narrative exposition is very low. I'd rather learn about a character's background in conversation.
I agree that conventional to is better. But I am old and forget. If say Leothyre shared his history with me I the player can save it which helps my character remember. Keeps my player old age from bleeding over into my characters.
