Teamfights

It's time to start moving toward them, imo Think of the impact on newbie rage it would have if you ACTUALLY HAD SUPPORT. FL Warfare is broken. It caters to vets who just play their strongest combos OVER AND OVER. That is not conducive to growing this game we love.

I've always liked the notion of this, as it somewhat takes away the rock paper scissors of classes, but it would also be very hard to regulate/balance.

Definitely - I only mean to restart the conversation as this game is unforgiving. Especially when f0xx is running dks/blms, ghrundor is charging, twin is plaguing, Anume is rocking whatever she plays, Volg is getting PK'd, and Trick is Hounding. Newbs have no chance D:

The ONLY way to progress is to change with the times! Let's pioneer the new age of mudding!

Maybe there could be... a few new commands. "Form Team", which makes the leader the "captain", and then "GPK -otherteam-" that the captain uses to enter a deathmarkesq type command against the other team. Maybe it can be to where the ratio (of people on each team) has to be kept even. I think it's important that no one actually die/be able to be looted in this, so as to lessen the concern with balance (otherwise that opens a whole new door for complaints and troubles)- so kinda like how when the Gor'gorak first came out, or when the powers of death were broken and no one could die.

I've still never even seen the Gor'gorak . I agree, though! Something to prevent that potential gang - no ganging, just teams or solo fights is my hope.

So... we are actually suggesting a deathless PK format where you can't lose anything?  Even challenges can kill you and cause you to lose gear. Tons of non-working things trump League of Text imo.

Uhh.. In all fairness, I was the nicest Syndicate Leader ever.

Isn't this similar to the arena fights that existed long ago, but were taken out because people didn't actually fight anymore? Everyone just went there and fought, but would wager equipment if they wanted.

Personally, I really liked the Arena concept.

  1. It allowed a newbie to join ANY cabal and experience a "safer" PK world.

  1. It would take away this stigma of Warmaster being a "learning" cabal.

  1. It will allow characters that normally wouldn't fight(because of alignment/cabal) to duke it out without the risk of someone entering a command one extra time and killing the person, resulting in loss of equipment because shit crumbles now.

Bring back the Arena. Incorporate the option for team fights. Make it a no-death area so it's impossible to even kill in there. Add rules for it. You can't fight in the arena if you have cabal enemies on. If you try, you get a response from the code guy similar to being bloody or the room in use:

" You already have glory to gain elsewhere. " Or some shit.

All I mean is, at least in the beginning, there would have to be a way to test it without people getting destroyed and stripped of all their stuff, as this would just blow up the prayer forum with unhappy players. Could eventually factor in things like spoils.

If;

Team's were limited to 3-4 characters, (I do not want to see Madness year round)

A specific area could be designated in the challenge and teams could not leave it, (The arena does not allow all classes to take advantage of surroundings)

Team Members [combatants] are protected from non combatants and vice versa until teams are disbanded, (this allows for spectators, but prevents spectator interference)

and teams get some sort of reward for winning such as a couple of RP points.

Then I am all for it.

All great ideas, keep those creative juices flowing! Arena is a great idea - or even a diplo-like flag for out-of-team members. I'll subliminally sneak in that I think the rare crumble was not the right choice to deal with the problem at hand (eq hoarding) from the start.

and uhh, that doesn't mean Ranger isn't one of your strongest classes

It does when it's a race I've never played!!  I'd be ten times stronger if I were ogre!

Edit/Sidenote: Personally, I don't care if a player plays the same class 10 times over as long as each time is different and they achieve different things. I am of the firm belief that players that achieve a Qthing/Elder/Leader are obligated to change Aabahran in some way or another. Just "existing" should not be allowed at that point. Doing everything you can to push some sort of RP should be a constant effort.

I like the arena concept.

We could even have a top10 arena of victories, like record for warmasters.

As for group PK, I don't really think our game mechanics favor this sort of stuff.

If people want newbies to have a chance, the vets have to stop playing power combos, or even comfortable combos.

Elites have to start to handycap themselves from the start.

I'm talking about Gnome Warriors.

Gnome rangers.

Gnome Blademasters...

Human Invokers.

Faerie thieves.

Faerie bards.

Elf warriors.

Or at least moderate combos.

Moderate Ogre warrior.

Moderate Giant Cleric.

Moderate Gnome invoker.

Moderate Paladin

Moderate slith blademaster...

Interesting concept Mya. Greed will prevent its inception, but could be its savior.

If there were a way to reward these weaker melee characters....

Seems the RP should be an outstanding advantage to them.

I have always wondered why players desire to be the greatest, or scariest, or most powerful.

Where are all of the ignorant apathetic cowards? Maybe the concept is such a character would never become a Hero in Aabahran.

Who knows?

I think this could be rather interesting, and it stands to reason that it would happen.

coordinating it for Cabal warfare, or casual pk, would be rather difficult - especially for the sake of fairness. however, using the Arena to provide the mode for this addition could be a lot of fun.

imagine Merchants taking bets on the fights (perhaps a percentage of the earnings would go to fund the Warmasters and Tribunal/Empire)

players could come spectate.

both single and group combat would be on display.

we could even add some code that would create auto attacks for certain classes that work together. (a warrior and a thief working together would create a different 'combo' attack than a warrior and invoker... etc...) whether these 'combo' attacks only function in the arena... or always... that too is up for debate.

to summarize: we should get the Arena up and running (even test it during Halloween Madness) so that we can have tournaments/big events... & this idea 'team fights' could be incorporated into that. plus, the added thought of creating combo attacks specific to the classes working together.

One thing is for certain, I will only play on the team sporting a Bard.

Or else this would happen.

Diten takes advantage of Mya's distraction.

Diten's lunge LACERATES Fool_Hardy!

LOL

Edit: Could we enlarge the field in the Arena for this perhaps 3X3 or 4X4, to allow for better missile/AOE evasions? Perhaps grass around the edges surrounding hardened earth that surrounds a bloody muddy center. Invokers can create springs for their water spells, but this gives thieves and rangers/druids room for their skills to work.

Imagine deathweaver

f0xx steps in and blocks Diten's attack.

You capitalize and side-step, tripping Diten.

How about this...since the Gor'gorak was an awesome new concept. an arena team horde mode where a team goes in and fights hordes until they fall. can have prizes and a record of the team who made the highest level.

Teen Titans Go!
