New RP Edges

If you have any suggestions for edges you're more than welcome to post them. They're certainly lacking and I wouldn't mind more 25-50rp edges that give a competitive edge.

  Doesn't really need much more explaining than that.  

 

 

The current list of edges so you can judge the strength of your suggestion:

  And to bring this over from the previous thread:   

I have two:  

    • Veteran Combatant , Veteran of a thousand battles. I have seen horrors that would shake a man to his soul. A fear resistant edge, that would Improved savings vs fear.  
    • Iron Mind , My mind is my stronghold. You can try to break my focus, but I will not  be distracted. Would mind_disrupt effect to max of 2030 at concentration check. Fury and other concentration loss related skills. Perhaps make it a +20% to concentration, at concentration check after mind_disrupt check. My intention is to reduce 50% cast fail rates to 33% (from 1 out of 2 to 1 out of 3 fail to cast), having an impact but still not making the skills worthless.

They seem fine to me.

Frugal, A life of privation and fasting has tempered my body. I eat less.

Reduces time that takes for you to get hungry again.

 

Water conservation, Life in the desert is hard, but so is my body. I sweat less and retain more water in my body.

Reduces time that takes for you to get thirsty again.

 

Each of this food/water would be 25 RP. So 50 RP for both, looks neat and allows people to chose.

Also, some sort of custom message when you eat or drink, would be very RPish.

"Mulao eats a duck, taking care to consume every last bit."

"Mulao drinks from a water skin. Not a drop is wasted."

 

Summoner, I am a master of the summoning arts. Few can resist my callings.

Increases the summon spell casting level of the summoner (or appropriate equivalent).

Summoning would have a unique message.

"Unable to resist Tuo power, you find yourself summoned to his presence."

 

Make Due, Sometimes you luck out. Sometimes you have to make due with what the god gave you. Improves low level sanctuary.

Gives 3 hour sanctuary when the initial duration is bellow 3.

Gives +1 hour sanctuary when the initial duration is bellow 6.

 

Basically it's something for people who luck out and have to resort to Vials, and low level wands/staves such as those from Cabal stores. Imagine some Savant full looted your ranger/ninja/monk, now you can kill the red dragon and get something, or outfit and buy a cabal staff.

Even if you are not in a cabal, vials become ok after a full loot.

I think this one would be a really useful. Imagine you go to a faction, this allows you to save your Glimmering for PK.

Fixed that for you.

Half again as long, perhaps, so instead of 12 hours between feeding, you can go 18.  Handy for those that don't buy backpacks full of milk and to those that forget to eat/drink before they request.  Of course, this edge could backfire, but hey, it's a 25 pointer.  I like.

More flavor texts!  I'd spend RPs on just that.  It's awesome without having to e/s/pmote.

If you're wanting to boost low level sanctuary, I think it should be for those items below a casting level of 30, not 40.  Thus, if it were below 5 hours to give a +1 duration rather that below 6 hours..  As it stands, I see this as a 50 pointer.  75+ if you extend it to any consumable.

Notorious Prattler - People have difficulty shutting you up.  Silencing you is harder to do.

Object 'orb dragonorb' is type staff, material dragon. Extra flags: magic antigood. Weight is 5, value is 18600, level is 21. Has 3 charges of level 5 'sanctuary'. Affects wis by 2. Affects int by 2.

 

Object 'elfwood knot' is type staff, material wood. Extra flags: glow hum antievil. Weight is 4, value is 5, level is 38. Has 4 charges of level 10 'sanctuary'. Rare item.

 

Object 'staff of purity' is type staff, material glass. Extra flags: glow antievil. Weight is 1, value is 10000, level is 35. Has 4 charges of level 5 'sanctuary'. Merrim's Shop of Staves and Wands, Val Miran (Shop)

 

Object 'staff ivory' is type staff, material ivory. Extra flags: invis magic antievil. Weight is 8, value is 20, level is 50. Has 3 charges of level 20 'sanctuary'. Rare item.

 

Vials and made pills are Level 15.

Cabal wands/staves are L10 and L15.

 

I could test it again, but Red dragon orb, gave like 0-1 sanctuary length last time I used it.

All those are staves.  Each and every pet you own would get that, which is powerful in and of itself.    But based on the levels, the second sentence would apply.  To get 3 hours out of a L5 sanctuary is stupidly powerful.  More so if you give it to your pets, too.

That is the point. To give use to non usable items, with a edge. To make life easy.

 

We already have L60 staves of sanctuary who give pets and owner long lasting hard to dispel sanctuary.

 

L5 sanctuary is a lot easier to dispel, and I prefer to have someone to fight, even if he has 3 hours sanctuary on pets, than doing nothing while he gets enough rares to defeat the Undead weight.

Yes we do.  We have a single rare item that gives you a long lasting sanctuary that's available to everyone that drops sometimes after beating a difficult mob.  You're looking at it from the viewpoint of a mage.  Flip the table and look at it from the viewpoint of a melee vs a necro or ranger now.  Three hours from a red dragon orb to all my pets?  I'll be farming that bad boy all day long for an infinite source of sanctuary.

 

+1 to sanc duration makes life easier, too.

 

This all doesn't mean either way is not viable for RP purchases.  I believe mine would be in the 50-75 range as opposed to your 100+ edge.

Gifted Ear - You often manage to parry attacks by hearing the whistle of the weapon regardless of sight. (50rp)

Not to be confused with blind fighting, just an aid for those without blind fighting, and a bonus for those who have it.

Patriotic Stance - Your fighting abilities are improved in your hometown and you won't be pushed around. (50rp)

Characters in their hometown are slightly more resistant to bash/bodyslam/trip.

Good Natured, You have such a  a good nature the gods favor you.

Requesting items takes less time, you lose less HP/mana/mvs, an your hit/damroll suffers less.

I like the request perk.

I don't have a lot of suggestions at the time, but a lot of the edges and skill/spell gifts that require RP points seem to heavily favor warriors. It'd be nice to see something that favored more rogue or mage types.

 

I dislike any perk that innately works to nerf any class's skills/spells. I like them to assist counteracting weaknesses or convenience issues, not to weaken the offensive abilities of others. That's a subtle yet important distinction.

I think the IMMs are open to suggestions.

Adrenaline Junkie - Your accuracy and defensive skills are boosted when your body is in awful condition. (50rp)

I remember when RP points were created, they were to be a reward for RolePlayers. And an incentive for PKers to RP more.

 

Why not allows DK's to spend RP points to feed their weapon?

Perhaps Dillory would roll a DK in herald.

 

Option 1:

Malform RP feeding limited to max of Level 5 or 7.

Cost's about 20 RP points per L50 soul.

 

Option 2:

Malform not level limited. Limited to 1 malform.

Exponential malform feading costs.

Soul costs start low, but grows.

The idea is throw RPers a bone while preventing PK people from going L10 in a flash.
