How about finally ...

allowing mages to dispel mobs?

 

Melee classes get enough offenses and defenses that they can easily deal with it, mages on the other hand cant do crap

vs a 'half decent' sanced mob.

 

We need just as much and in most cases MORE 'specialty' equipment then melee classes, maybe its time to let us 

use one of our main skills on mobs since melee classes get to use all a mages main skills AND their their own?

??? I don't agree that mages can't hold their own with mobs. Attrition and patience is just needed in most cases. This is just imo.

Some mages just like some melees are great against mobs. Some aren't. Just how it goes. Also, the spells on mobs are usually permenant. It's not like they're casting multiple times. Soooo letting them dispell it would be waaaaaay too easy.

Get yourself some mugwort if you're going up against a tough mob.  Smoke it, blast mob, flee/sleep before the hour changes.  Repeat that.  Or just blast mob until your HP is low...smoke it and sleep a few hours.  Whatever your preference.

 

If you dispel a player's character, that player will flee and re-cast sanctuary.  Mobs can't do that.

While I think dispelling mobs sanctuary is unfeasible, I think that UC has a point.

 

There should more stuff that mages could do to sanctuary. And melee focused characters definitively have an advantage against mobs.

 

  1. Sanctuary piercing.

This would be an effect that would negate sanctuary, but not remove the sanctuary effect.

It should only work on mobs.

It should be an argument to the 'dispel magic' function.

It should only "pierce the sanctuary" not dispel the mob.

It's duration should be 0 hours.

Example: cast 'dispel magic' 'gorgorak' 'pierce'

 

  1. Or have dispel spell when cast check if it's a mob, if it has unlimited duration sanctuary, if it passes saves and pierce the sanctuary (put a pierce affect on the mob).

It should give a message of " your dispel magic weakens gorgorak sanctuary momentarily", or

"gorgorak sanctuary fades briefly".

And there for a brief time the bastard doesn't has sanctuary.

 

Better the second way, since it's more consistent and balanced. Works for all, even DK lead mobs, Tribunal guards,  etc.

I've spanked the new Gor'gorak.  Alone.

And then we stayed awake all night cuddling.

 

 

 

Atticus and Beer are right.  It's all about attrition in those aspects.  Even if you did away with the permanent sanctuary and doubled the mobs HP, you're left with the same thing.  Now what?  The mages are still in the same position as before, as are the melee's and the hybrids.

Basically this is a call for easier mobs, albeit for mages, and I'm not sure that's needed.

Some mages and some melee are really good vs mobs. Some are not. That's the way of the game. The next day after something like this is adopted the people with melees will be saying poor poor me, the mages have it sooooo easy so we should make mobs easier for melees too.

Noone was complaining when Gorgorak's attacks were magical
