Cabal Idea: The HORDE

Be easy on me, as this is the first thing I've ever really come up with in the Ideas forum.

*~Cabal Idea~*

The HORDE is a group of individuals with no real purpose. They have no obedience to

friends or each other, except to the good of the HORDE. Generally outcast individually

but with strength in numbers they band together for a greater good. Horde members often

fight within their own ranks, and have no individual bonds. They can rarely communicate

past screeches and howls, grunts and the like. The HORDE rejects anyone with an apparent

intelligence or size differential, as these individuals tend to lead naturally. the

HORDE must remain volatile and shifting, and only by surviving within the HORDE may an

Elder or Leader arise from it.

Align: Chaotic Neutral

Race: No giants. Gnomes, Halflings, Duergar, Dwarf, Feral, Slith, Werebeast, Human

Class: Thief, Ninja, Warrior, berserker, blademaster, bard, invoker, battlemage,

=Inductee=

The Horde: You are now part of the horde. You are accompanied by other little hordlings.

Two max. 1 hp each, hordlings attack but never hit, or hit for scratches.

Jibberjabber: You can no longer speak common, having becoming one of the horde.

=Member=

Scurry: Movement appears like "The horde scurries into every nook and cranny!"

Scoot: Increase dodge by 3. The hordlings have learned how to scoot their little tushes

out of the way!

=Veteran=

Scatter: Lag protection, hordlings sacrifice themselves against lag attacks "As the

horder scatters, you bash a minor hordling and it perishes in misery!"

Scream: Max 3 hordlings. Gives them a single/double round boost to number of attacks and

slight increase to damage. "The entire horde lets out a shrill scream, summoning more

hordlings from the woodwork!" Cooldown.

Fighters

=Trusted=

Blend: Name still on who list but targeted as 'hordling'/ Increase hordling limit to 4.

"You blend into the horde, now becoming its essence."

Wrend: Good burst damage with chance to blind/poison. "The entire horde claws and

scrapes your eyes and face with wretched little limbs!"

=Elder=

Hordeboss: Increase to five hordlings. Hordlings take half damage from aoe spells and

gain significant increases to hp.

=Leader=

Chain of Command: Hordlings get significant gains to attack and must be destroyed before

the Leader may be targeted.

Flighters

=Trusted=

Tunnel: The horde slowly builds a network of collapsing tunnels. "You tunnel your way

out of here!" <Can be used to created timed and temporary tunnels either within the same

area or up to one area away. Area call in one or both sides when used. Up to three at

mastery>

Funnel: Has increased chance to flee, even when lagged. Gets autopassdoor. Movement

replaced with- "The horde bottlenecks at the nearest escape path!"

=Elder=

Hole to Nowhere: Drops a trap that when walked over, teleports the enemy to a random

place and the caster is notified where. He can take this hole himself to a definitely

safe location. He can see the room back through the hole return through it once. Big

cooldown.

=Leader=

Distraction: Spawns and scatters wildly aggressive and powerful hordlings from a

location to disorient and distract. They cast thunderclap, blind, and slow.

HI Twin,

I was going to rip you a new one but then I read your first line:

Be easy on me, as this is the first thing I've ever really come up with in the Ideas forum.

So instead I'll say - I don't think halfling blademasters need a 'meat shield'. Or werebeast rangers for that matter.

Its an interesting idea though... I think it'd need to be tamed down a bit - Imagine a gnome invoker with some of those spells... Shiver ...

That made me giggle

That made me giggle

Ok...who broke F0xx? He has been acting all weird for the last few days.

I think this would serve better as a class concept, sort of like a necro with a more zergy feel.

I like the concept.  It's got a different feel to it.  Not sure exactly how viable it would be, but I do like it.

I'm thinking that having the little swarmlings with just the 1 hp is a bit rough.  Anyone with AoE or access to AoE would rip them apart, which would pretty much be most of the classes out there.  Maybe +25hp per cabal rank (or 2-2.5x character level as a class) with a level/2 chance to dodge AoE spells.  That'll make them squishy, but still able to survive a couple rounds (maybe) against an invoker or berserker.

Not sure about the passdoor.  Don't see how that really fits.

I was pretty elevated... when this came to be. I guess origin was that the cabal had no vendettas, but a random vendetta system because it's a volatile horde of awful little things. I also wanted to add that there would be a lot of encouraged in-fighting as maybe an enhanced coup system and equal rewards for fighting anyone. The idea was to add another element to FL by adding a cabal that was molded around being random and somewhat meaningless. Certain combos should be strong in this. Someone telling me a Reaver invoker or barbarian monk aren't specifically EXTREMELY powerful? Remember, it's not always about the strongest powercombos. And I could think of a few you could throw in here. But how does this offer something far more broken than a halfing blademaster in Gladiator or Stalker? Remember, power combos can always be toned/removed as a selection, but I liked the idea of a cabal that was, in a way, more neutral than neutral. They REALLY have no side. Even Nexus has friends, man. To be honest, I actually narrowed the race/class to favor many of the less picked options, cutting out a place for giants, no crazy strong races like elves or drow. Just the little guys.

@Aulian I don't think rangers are included in the HORDE. The halfling blademaster might have some nice meatshields, but what else does he have? He's a chaotic neutral little spaz with no cabal ties and no friends. That's the idea, be it a good one or a bad one.

@Magick The idea was that the hordelings were more of a token in the beginning with no real value. Like being an Inductee for most places. One upper cabal path is for strengthening your ties with the horde and another was for being more elusive with it. The passdoor was representative of that path of the HORDE Flighter's ability to "Escape through every nook and cranny." and be extremely hard to catch. Again, good idea or bad, that was it. Maybe someone wants to play a horde duergar thief that can just jack people's stuff and leave. Horde Flighter at your service. Wanna be a brute? Horde Fighter Slith warrior. When do you see slith warriors again?

I don't exactly expect this to be taken seriously for implementation but it was an idea I brought to life because I was bored, hehe.

Again the misconception of what is neutral in fl. What you describe would be an evil only cabal.

A neutral needs a strong (not just I wanted their stuff) motive to kill anyone. Random murder is evil.

I like this little pet idea, though we got that with the Lloth religion already.

How would the idea remain in tact, but stay true to FL neutral? I don't envision murderers everywhere. I mean I generally used the chaotic neutral helpfile in an attempt to mold the idea. But yea I guess it sounds relatively evil, and even I don't want another full evil cabal. Thanks for the input everyone! Was just a little thought that happened in my head. haha

Don't get discouraged, I think some elements of your idea could be molded into something fun.

That's what you guys are for! I know every idea (Unless somehow amazingly perfect first try) needs crafting, and our pbase is one of the brightest even if it is pretty small. I feel like Neutral is represented as either greedy (Syndicate/Merchant) or treelovers (Watcher) and I don't feel I see Chaotic Neutrals played well or at all, for reasons you just outlined. I had one character who was made to follow lady luck. Even found a way have a coin flip emote with a 50% possible outcome of heads and tails were possible!

Thanks for the input everyone! Was just a little thought that happened in my head. haha

Ahhh! The root of the problem
