this is something I thought would be a nice addition for players that like to rp as independent or affiliated -Merchants- (independent meaning not part of the cabal/sub cabal). this is an idea for Player run shops... something that can be provided to members of the Merchant sub cabal or players that have role played enough to purchase this ability from the Bazaar (app to Imm). this isn't set in stone, so depending on whether the Imms & players want the shops to hold more or continue to exist while the shop owner is offline is entirely up for debate.
[shop types] A cart (10 non rare items/item types or less for independent Merchants)/A booth (20 non rare items/item types or less for affiliated Merchants)
Player shop syntax:
shop [shop type] list
shop [shop type] browse [item in shop]
shop [shop type] buy [item in shop] -the cart/booth vendor could have a haggle ability set at the shop owners degree of skill, making for an opposed haggle check for more or less than the asking price-
Syntax for shop owners (shop item needs to be in your inventory - or bank if we choose to go that route):
shop [shop type] add [item to sell] [price]
shop [shop type] set [item in shop] [price]
shop [shop type] remove [item in shop]
shop [shop type] withdraw [retrieve the gold your vendor has collected thus far]
shop [shop type] withdraw all [retrieve gold and all items in the shop (limited to how much you or your bank account can hold)]
Use 'shop [shop type] open' in the room you want to open your shop in.
Use 'shop [shop type] close' in the room with your shop, to close it.
[when in a room with a player run shop] A vendor pushing a cart is here./A vendor attending a booth is here.
[when you browse] You pick up and study a pair of black-steel boots more closely. [when seen browsing] So-and-so picks up and studies a pair of black-steel boots.
the risk and reward of this addition would be the convenience of the Merchant being able to sell items (like consumables/non rares) while adventuring IG (or offline)... at the same time... the vendor could be slain by several level 50's... costing the Merchant gold/valuables/both. perhaps the Merchant could be made aware, with his considerable contacts, of at least one of the people that killed his vendor too.
whether the vendors speak, cost the Merchant a fee, the items placed in the shop have to be in your inventory/bank or the items placed in the shop have to be non-rare and consumable only... all up for discussion.
