Insane how Neutral Cleric became a Fire Giant Dark Knight Thread.
Fire Giant Dark Knights even with all spells and skills were relatively weak at 50, with the advancements to Invokers over the years they would surely be fodder now, the same was true for Storm Paladins. These were not OP race/class combos, they were very strong 30-40, but at 50 they fell hard. Of course we had illusionists back then too.
Edit: This was pre malform as well.
Back on topic: Neutral Clerics could be a nice addition to this game, but I have stated in the past it would take a lot of time to balance these clerics, to create New spells for them that compare with those of their counterparts. Furthermore, what Idea did you have for neutral cleric changeovers Professor? Good=Healer Evil=Shaman Neutral=?Ecclesiastic? And what spell changes could you suggest for this subclass?
I am not against neutral clerics, I just think a more immediate fix to the problem Foxx stated in the beginning would be to open Order Chaos and Neutrality to both good and evil clerics. The RP being that they are doing what they feel is right to preserve what they perceive as their own god's ideals.
it doesn't have to have a Healer/Shaman counterpart. quite simply Neutral Clerics wouldn't have the option to remort like the good/evil clerics do. (of course, that doesn't mean I would be opposed to the idea if someone was willing to create it - it could always be added later too, after the Neutral Cleric concept was balanced)
as for the specific spells that need to be changed/created for the Neutral Cleric (something in place of dispel good/evil, etc...) I think it would be best for someone with a better grasp of game mechanics than I.
Neutral Bards kind of fill the role Dale describes, but I get his feeling. I like playing hybrid caster types but that means DK or Paladin, so really just DK because who can stand to play a goodie?
I remember being so jealous when Dharg played a dk like he was a paladin, apping for demon. The imms ended up making him into a good allign DK with a mix of paladin/dk skills. I'm sure he lost just about anything worth while but it sounds like such a fun class to play.
Spellsword would be a nice variant of a dk that would have no align restrictions.
