Bless armor (Cleric spell)

Clerics have bless arms, which blesses shields and Weapons.

It's an useful spell.

But there is nothing clerical for armors. Clerics should be prime material for merchants, but they aren't.

So I thought what if they had something like Invokers to complement their bless arms?

Something cosmetically, with little use for them, but use for others.

So this "bless armor" spell would a cleric (perhaps even a healer) to bless a piece of armor.

The piece of armor would receive the "bless" flag, which I think does nothing in the game.

In the past it allowed armor to be better enchanted with Invokers "enchant armor" .

And a very minor secondary bonus.

I was thinking of 1 hitgain. (+1% HP regen). We have about 16-18 eq pieces, so this would in theory mean a max ~+18 hitgain. Remenber this bonus is negligible to a Cleric who can cure 50 HP with cure critical.

But a Ogre warrior could stack a bit of hitgain.

If you think hit gain is to powerful, as it can be in some borderline cases, then I suggest movegain.

+18 movegain is not that big of a bonus, since there are single pieces of gear that give +20 movegain.

Again this is negligible to a cleric who has access to refresh spell.

The objective of this spell is give clerics something to do to support other characters either as merchants, or at an unafiliated level.

As much as I like the idea, I don't think clerics need anything.

I feel bad for mya. There are some great ideas at times but someone always shoots them down.

How about paladins?

Give them kick.

And flails.

I want to see paladins with malforms, heh.

Paladins with axes.

Give them kick.

Mounted Kick ftw.

Nice Idea Mya. But what if the spell improved the armor based on armor type. Allowing the spell to add +1hitgain(chest,waist,body) +1managain (head and neck) +1movehain(feet and legs) +1luck(arms and hands) rings and lights get nothing.

Or perhaps make it depend upon the faith of the cleric, adding +1 to a skill on certain pieces. Then said ogre warrior will be on a quest to enlist the aid of clerics of all religions.

Clerics do not need anything as Foxx says, but adding flavor to this game is essential to its growth. And I do not believe your Idea Mya is to make clerics stronger so I am all for it.

Or a paladin with flying tackle, for the ultimate dismount in combat. Or a paladin with at least bless arms. Makes sense, at least, since they are pretty much offensive clerics, more or less.

Sometimes I feel like clerics are more offensive than paladins. IMO

Clerics are without question more offensive than paladins.

I just mean the idea of them. Spells and skills aside, and maybe I'm alone in my view, but I just see paladins, as an idea, more combat/offensive in mind, than clerics.

I think we should give druids magic immunity through green circle of protection again...

Just cause.

I wonder why Mya comes up with good ideas only about mages

Nonsense. I come up with ideas for meeles all the time. Like asking for sanctuary duration to be based on consumer level instead of only spell level. I do admit, that playing more mages, I come up more mage useful ideas than meele ideas.

Aulian, this idea was not about empowering clerics. It was about giving them something more to do for other characters, akin to temple clerics in most RPG's games.

18 movegain on a full enchanted suit is hardly empowering for a class that can heal moves.

this is akin to a suggestion I made about Invokers and their enchanting. always thought enchanting should have options. don't see why Bless Arms and Armor shouldn't exist and be comparable to Enchanting Weapons and Armor... though, both providing different things... maybe something specific and special for the alignment/path of Good & Evil (maybe Neutral  ) clerics? Could also make it where armor that is Enchanted can't be Blessed/Enhanced... or it wipes the power of one to place the other?

an Evil Cleric's Bless Armor could make that piece of armor Evil only? (of course, it has to be a piece of eq they can touch... so, a good only couldn't be made evil only) maybe create a prog specific to that path... (A Mask of Fangs starts emitting black tendrils of smoke. Black tendrils of smoke reach out and -hit- you.) shrug we could also add a blessed aura to weapons/armor that are... instead of just having the glowing/humming/magical...

of course, I've always wanted to make the effects noticed on eq mean something specific... like if it is glowing... it is 'Blessed' or 'Good Only' or a light source... lol 'Humming' could be a sign that it's an 'Intelligent' item... that will occasionally talk? OKAY, getting really sidetracked now...
