Silence / Blasphemy cure. <New consumable>

Volg, that is my single biggest gripe in this game.

The consumables are bordering on ridiculous. It's almost enough to not bother playing because my idea of fun is not farming 100 nymph hearts so someone has to kill me 3 times before I die.

Consumables are what is killing this game. It was a good idea that's now become ridiculous.

 

Couldn't this be solved rather easily by eliminating all healing curables in the game?  No more red/white staves, nymph hearts etc.  Everything else that is rare (such as that one rather strong scroll) gets pushed down to cure critics.  Leave the one shot elixir as its...one shot.

 

Problem sovled with some fairly minor tweaking it would seem.  Any downsides I have missed?

PS - on topic, I think it's meant to be that way with silence/blasphemy.  They are not easy to get spells, and very, very hard to land given casters/communers have only a need for hp/mana/saves eq.  It's not that easy to land through saves and as soon as you get it on, the person runs for the hills.  Sure, it's powerful.  But so are all the blademaster mals, assassinate, blackjack, sleep and so on.  High offense is what makes the game interesting - not walking tanks who can't be brought down.
