I dont think the slot should just be an extra eq slot. These are special rewards and should be treated as such. As it stand ANY warrior would rather be using their bow over a gift from the heavens/hells (as applicable). The fact dragons occupy floatie slot confuses me why they cannot use bows in the first place. THat is literally the only EQ slot that is not actually on you.
Maybe it might float in front of the arrow? lol Dunno about that. Anyway, I would say rather than having a slot that's opened and makes you feel like a sad panda if you don't have something there, maybe said slot can be opened up if you are given such a thing?
If you made dragons more viable (by letting people use them all the time) then you'd get people sending through descriptions at level 1, if they didn't get a dragon they'd delete and try again. It would increase imm workload for something that isn't really worth the time.
As someone who has never gotten a dragon in over 10 years, this just seems like a direct nerf to players like me.
I don't think dragons were ever meant to be all that useful at 50, personally. Seems to me they are designed to give a boost for your low ranks. That said, if they are to be given out, may as well let them be used, if only to show em off.
So because you never got one, I should not be able to use it if I get one? People dont sit, and farm trying to get dragons, it is not enough of a power boost to warrant that. The fact that someone can get a gift from heaven, and not use it, is mildly annoying at best. A tattoo get's it's own spot, perhaps they should replace a piece of EQ then?
I do not think dragons should have their own eq spot. This simple fact is, they are powerful for what they are. However, I think they need something a little extra. Perhaps something like an upgrade or series of upgrades you can get for RP points in the bazaar. That way, they continue to be an important part of a characters life and continue to promote good RP (for which they were a reward in the first place).
So because you never got one, I should not be able to use it if I get one?
So because you were lucky enough to get one you should have a permanent advantage?
People dont sit, and farm trying to get dragons, it is not enough of a power boost to warrant that.
If is doesn't warrant farming one, why care if you can't use it or not.
The fact that someone can get a gift from heaven, and not use it, is mildly annoying at best.
I once got the leather bodysuit owner only'd to me because I wore something similar in my description. It was easy to upgrade from but did offer the advantage that if I got full looted I still had something, much like a dragon.
A tattoo get's it's own spot, perhaps they should replace a piece of EQ then?
It's definitely strong enough to warrant that, but my suggestion would just be to let the Murivhor tattoos take the same spot. That way people with religion tattoos feel special as theirs doesn't rot etc and people who are unable to get them can still get something to fill the spot.
Really - Dragons need their own EQ spots? So you can get a random MANGLE every few rounds of fighting? I think of attrition classes getting extra damage output...like a shaman with several extra CAPS damage thrown in. I don't think we really need this, but that's my opinion.
MANGLE may be a bad damage verb to throw out, but really I think the sentiment is understandable. Giving classes without a blind mechanic access to smoke blinding without lowering their effectiveness otherwise is a pretty big deal. Sure, you can do it with some items, but that generally means sacrificing on an eq choice.
The same can be said for earth dragons, albeit to a lesser extent as you can get armor already through other means.
I like description dragons, and the idea of giving them an upgrade is fantastic. But I don't feel that the best way to make them more viable is to create another eq slot for them. Instead, I suggest giving players the ability to upgrade them with RP. As a community, we should want to award *constant *quality. I think the RP system lets us do that perfectly already.
I don't think simply having a good desc should give you a very large pk advantage by the time 50 comes around. How about if instead of that, once you hit 50 you can use the dragon as a mount. Not really a huge boon to pk, but a happy enough convienence to have.
Wear dragon -> use dragon-> you now have the mounted affect for 24 hours.
Maybe with a huge amount of rp points you could use it to fly.
I challenge any naysayers who say this on the basis of PK power to show me a single log where the damage, or buffs, from a dragon ever had a real influence on a pk. I would be shocked if a single log could be generated over the last X years FL has existed lol.It is not about having a permanent advantage. A character who was given a dragon has something special, and unique, they should be able to actually keep it. Imagine God appeared before you, and gave you an aura of pure good (or communism of your f0xx). And you went well, it's cool and all god, but uhm. Im just gonna rock out with my hoody. Kthxbai.Stupid
lol. Yes, because someone was given a gift from the heavens they should be able to use it. If your bitter, stop stifling ideas like this because you never got a reward like that, start working harder on your characters so you get those rewards.
It honestly just sounds like you want an advantage because you have a dragon. Despite what you say, always being able to wear a dragon vs someone not wearing one gives you a pk advantage.
I've won and lost pks by 50hp before and I guarantee if I or they had been using a dragon it would of turned out differently.
I'm not being salty but if you want to start flaming saying I should try harder then fuck you buddy, how do you know anything about the effort I've put into my characters?
